Serangoon Gardens Estate is one of the oldest residential areas in Singapore . The place has a centralized circle area with food stalls, shops. markets and common amenities within the reachable walking distance from the numerous two storeys residential homes. The whole area has been renovated in 2001 to give it a fresher look. It has an upgraded market with a new outlook. This whole area will likely be under the Marine Parade GRC or Serangoon GRC in the next election.

Its market is well known for its specialities like Nasi lemak, noodles and Nonya cakes just as like quaint neighbourhood of Holland Village in the Island of Singapore. There is also a famous food centre called "Chomp Chomp" near the circle which has just been recently renovated. This food centre attracts people from all parts of Singapore, famous for its delicious hawker fare.

More recently, small cafes offering anything from japanese food to desserts have sprouted up around the area, hence, attracting a new younger yuppie and teenage crowd to hang out in the area. Among the landmarks in Serangoon Gardens Estate, is the circus which houses a large central bus stop, and the 'Chomp Chomp' Food Centre, and the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church which is located along Chartwell Drive that has a 4000 strong churchgoing population.
