Twinkle

I got a new computer, installed Firefox again and now Twinkle works... Weird. SwirlBoy39 23:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh: well, I don't use Firefox. :) Acalamari 23:38, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you're on now...

Can you look at WP:RPP and deal with my request? I am getting really annoyed. J.delanoygabsadds 17:15, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I should report him to AIV, so I went that route. J.delanoygabsadds 17:21, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine: I don't think there would have been a problem reporting him to AIV, in all fairness: the edits he made before editing your talk page were vandalism, so it's clear he was simply here to be disruptive. Acalamari 17:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re:Happy Birthday

I just found out it was your birthday a few weeks ago. I know this is a little late, but Happy Birthday from me. :) Acalamari 18:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, not too late ;) But thanks =] . CattleGirl talk 08:46, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're are very welcome. :) Acalamari 15:32, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Just a belated thanks for the rollback status, it'll serve me well :-). Cheers, tim.bounceback 20:14, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome. :) I'm sure you'll make good use of it. Best wishes. Acalamari 20:17, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

Hello! I am User:Billy! I have a question. Would you mind granting me rollback privileges. I am a very dedicated vandal fighter, and I would greatly benefit from this. Thanks! -Billy-talk 21:09, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seems Malinaccier did it for you. :) Acalamari 22:16, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, could you please devote some of your precious time to taking a quick look at this article. Recently the information regarding her measurements was changed, the old source remained. As much as the new info reverted by me was completely unsourced, I tend to think that also her old/current measurements were/are questionable. They were sourced, but I'm not too sure whether the source was/is actually reliable. What do you think? Thanks in advance for your opinion. Best regards --Catgut (talk) 02:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't look like a bad source to me: but if you're unsure, the best thing to do is to look up her measurements on some other websites, and if necessary, provide more than one source for her measurements. Acalamari 18:09, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for your advice, forgot to reply!!! Best, --Catgut (talk) 04:39, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine: glad to help. :) Acalamari 15:15, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Dear Acalamari,

This user continues blunt vandalism here [1] and also removed vandalism warning from his talk page [2]. He also also investigated for sockpopetry [3]. He also vandalized my talk page [4]. We need your help, I warned him on his talk page but he keeps removing the warning tag. Thanks a lot. Iberieli (talk) 13:58, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you (and everyone else there, so don't take it personally) misunderstood the purpose of the page. The "add comments" redlink on Talk:1974 in India points to that page. That said, if the page was being used in a way other than how it should be, then I take this back. I don't want to DRV this because I don't really care, but yeah... dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 01:37, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...obviously it wasn't an orphaned talk page then: however, the text wasn't worth keeping, and if you want, I'll give you the text of that page and we can discuss restoring it if you like, though I don't think the text is worth restoring. Acalamari 01:48, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, don't worry about it. I could probably just make a new one if it was important (I don't personally see much use in those pages.) Could you possibly leave a note on the MfD (or somewhere) indicating that recreation would be OK, if someone were to want to do so in future. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 03:57, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Acalamari 16:56, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, thank you again for Rollback. It's proven itself quite useful tonight. D: -WarthogDemon 03:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

delete revision?

I had asked a person on Flickr to change the license on one of his pictures. He replied on my talk page and he included some contact info. A few seconds later, he removed the contact info. As an admin, is it possible for you to delete a revision from the history so only admins can see it? Or should I request oversight? Thanks. J.delanoygabsadds 00:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Acalamari 01:52, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching

Thanks for your kind words Acalamari. Feel welcome to close the coaching page any time. When I eventually go for another RFA, I'll drop you a talk page note. Thanks again, VanTucky 04:08, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome! You did excellent work during your coaching: you clearly demonstrated good knowledge of policy, and I think you'll make a great administrator when you become one. I would like to throw in a co-nomination in your next RfA if you want, but if you already have a nominator and co-nominators available, I'll just give a very strong support instead! :) (Don't want too many co-nominators!) Best wishes. Acalamari 16:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy to have you co-nom when I go for it. So far it's you, Tim Vickers and AGK. Thanks Acalamari! VanTucky 17:54, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's great, and you're welcome! Though personally, I'd leave it at that many number of nominators: believe it or not, too many nominators can actually hurt a nomination rather than help it. :( Just tell us when you want to run. Acalamari Bellatrix! 17:56, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

I have indef blocked you for WP:POINT and WP:TROLL trolliong violations as you attempted to use a false retirement to win an edit war with Jimbo Wales, the CABAL, and every other editor on this project. This behavior is unacceptable and please never come back. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 15:53, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gah! Someone saw through the trick! Activating my ultra-admin powers! Hahahahaha! I cannot be blocked via regular means! I am unblocked! Acalamari 15:55, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:WHEELWARing is likley to get you de-sysopped. I have put in an emergency de-sysop request here. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 15:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Awarding Barnstar

The Barnstar of Good Humor
Aprils fools day was a blast. Loads of users lightened up to have good old fashion fun. I want to thank you for taking part in editing this page in particular and even though I may not know you, embrace the same talk pages, or even edit with you in the near future, I'd like to award you this Barnstar for making Wikipedia a fun environment in which to contribute. Until next year. :) SynergeticMaggot (talk) 13:39, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for the Barnstar! Thanks also for adding to yesterday's April Fools' Fun! :) Acalamari Bellatrix! 15:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice warning

I think it is nice for you to warn yourself for doing vandalism in which i suppose you have done........ (and rather LeStrange). Simply south (talk) 02:22, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you mean: I haven't warned myself for vandalism. Acalamari 15:43, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On the other account you did six months ago then reverted yourself (i thougth you might have got where i was going when i said "LeStrange"). Just another random jokey comment. Simply south (talk) 19:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh...Bellatrix Kerrigan = Bellatrix Lestrange. :) Ha, ha, yes, I do get it now. It was quite early here when I responded to your message, so I wasn't sure what you meant. :) Thanks. Acalamari 20:14, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

Thank you for granting me rollback rights. Mww113 (talk) 22:10, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Just remember it's only for reverting vandalism. You may also wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback too. Good luck. Acalamari 22:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have seen that. However I have a couple questions. 1. Can rollback be used on a users talk page if the user has blanked or cleared the page to hide warnings?? (recently did that) 2. Can an accidental rollback be undone? (Or if after the fact I realize that my rollback was inappropriate) Mww113 (talk) 22:16, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(1) I wouldn't revert warnings in accordance with this guideline; (2) Yes, you can use rollback, undo, etc to revert a mistaken rollback. Acalamari 22:19, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. Thank you very much. I was not aware of that policy. I will not make the same mistake again. Again thank you very much! Mww113 (talk) 22:21, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! Acalamari 22:30, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the welcome back

Hi Acalamari, thanks for the welcome back. I don't expect to be contributing a lot due to other demands on my time, but I hope to do work here and there. --Kyoko 16:27, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! It's nice to see you back! :) Acalamari 16:30, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE

Yes, I guessed it was an April Fool's joke. Sorry I didn't acknowledge it, I've been semi-inactive for the last couple of months. WaltonOne 16:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine: while I understand why you haven't been active much recently, it's nice when you do come back online. :) Acalamari 16:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amanda Michalka

Dear Acalamari,

Firstly I would like to thank you for contributing to Wikipedia as much as you have. Now on to my real point : some information on Amanda Michkala(sorry if i spelt that wrong)'s page is incorrect her Birthday is March 25th 1991 not April 10th 1991. Yes it is the same as her sisters, I've seen more than my fair share of their interviews where they have stated and i quote "Yeah we have the same Birthday. We always say that we're the only twins to be born 2 years apart lol . . ." blah blah blah etc. I tried to fix it but i was repremanded and sent a message not to 'vandalise' Wikipedia pages. Please correct it or write back as it is very frustrating to know that there is wrong information on Wikipedia.

Thank you

My username is :fifiballerinagirl16 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:29, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the recognition regarding my work here. Anyway, with Amanda Michalka's birthday being the same day as Alyson's, do you have any reliable sources to verify this? To start with, I checked IMDB and TV.com, and both of them said that Amanda was born on April 10th, but I'm not totally sure how reliable they are when it comes to birthdates. Finally, if you changed the birthday in good faith, your edit was not vandalism. Acalamari 21:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your note

Hi Acalamari, Thanks for letting me know. . .can I interest you in a trade? I need some more eyes for a BLP issue, currently on-going, while I work on the RfA stuff. The relevant post at BLPN is here, the latest edit which concerns me is here. If you agree with what I've laid out at the noticeboard (or hell, just look at the edit) could I get a little help? :-) Thanks, R. Baley (talk) 19:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. :) Anyway, I've left a comment on the noticeboard. I don't normally deal with issues like this, but I suppose a little help should be of some use. :) Acalamari 20:56, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback Request

Hi, I requested rollback a while ago and it was suggested I use Twinkle for a while. I think I'm ready for rollback now - I spend a lot of time reverting vandalism, etc. Thanks.Doug Weller (talk) 06:54, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted. :) Just remember to use it for reverting vandalism, and not for reverting good-faith edits, or use in revert wars. For more information, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. Good luck. Acalamari 15:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! That could be good! Give you grant me, i will use carefully. Thanks! --Aleenf1 16:17, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for semi-prot on California Gold Rush

Thanks for the semi-protection on California Gold Rush. That article gets a lot of childish anon vandalism - in part perhaps because the topic is a subject of many school reports and essays. It may well be a good subject for a permanent semi-protect. NorCalHistory (talk) 22:22, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome: the current semi-protection is for a month, so we'll see how it goes after that. Acalamari 22:44, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding your kind offer of roll-back privileges - I would be honored. I'll use it judiciously only for vandalism! Thank you! NorCalHistory (talk) 23:08, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I was just wondering if you could find a image to add to the Trina article. Thankyou. Raintheone (talk) 14:16, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I'm not sure where you can get free images from. The image that was on the Trina article didn't have a description of its status, and therefore, there was no listing of whether it was free or not. Acalamari 15:33, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback Rights Request

Hi Acalamari. I've admired your work from a distance and noticed that you are listed as an admin willing to grant rollback rights. I would like to have such rights both to more easily rollback vandalism and to also get the necessary experience through this small responsibility to someday be a stellar admin like yourself. I hope you will consider my request, and if the answer's in the negative, please advise me how I can improve. Thank you! --Eustress (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for the compliments! It's nice to know my work is appreciated :) Anyway, I had a look through some of your contributions, and I've granted your rollback request. Just remember that rollback should only be used to revert vandalism, and should not be used to revert good faith edits, and certainly should not be used in revert wars. If you're interested in practice before use in the mainspace, take a look at Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 23:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to paste this in its main page soon and I would like to seek comments on how it would be improved further aside from copy editing (Its not yet copyedited). --Efe (talk) 08:48, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will now move the revamped version to the main article. It would be better to show it to others so that they will help me go over with it, fixing what should be fixed. For your further comments, see its PR. Thank you. --Efe (talk) 12:12, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its here: Wikipedia:Peer review/Beyoncé Knowles/archive1. Thank you. --Efe (talk) 12:54, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please give this user a warning. He/She's giving a headache. And the other one as well. See the history. Thanks. --Efe (talk) 02:15, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If they're adding unsourced information to the article, place on their talk pages. I'd help more, but I have to go to dinner: it's 7:20pm where I live. Acalamari 02:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They're not just adding unsourced informations, they're reverting my edits which was supposedly to fulfill comments in the PR. YOur an admi so Am asking your help. Happy eating. --Efe (talk) 02:31, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is not good!. Im not overprotecting but this edit is not good. REally. --Efe (talk) 14:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It seems they've already been warned for vandalism now, and by someone else. Me giving a warning at this point would be pointless, as they've been warned. Also, the fact I'm an admin doesn't mean that my warnings have any more power than anyone else's: anyone can warn. Acalamari 15:49, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yah. Two users, I think, already warned that user who dropped a message in my talkpage saying that the content of my edits were irrelevant. I dont want to engage in edit war so I would like admins to watch over this one. Thank you. --Efe (talk) 03:02, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. You're welcome. Acalamari 15:27, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RPP

Can you please semi-protect Tiger Droppings? There are three people reverting vandalism there and we can't keep up! J.delanoygabsadds 19:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's been deleted by Nick. See the deletion log. Acalamari 20:37, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Parachute

You may want to consider semi-protecting Parachute. There's been quite a bit of stupid vandalism on that page recently, which still hasn't been reverted. Take a look at Parachute#Design and you'll quickly see what I mean. There used to be some excellent information re. ribbon chutes, which has now been replaced by scatological idiocy. - Nabokov (talk)

I haven't protected the page, as it doesn't need protecting for now: there's not enough vandalism to justify semi-protection. It was only two users vandalizing, and if they vandalize again, they can be blocked if necessary. The vandalism has been reverted as well. Acalamari 20:41, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Credits and Help

Hello again. Hope all is going well for you. I borrowed your amazing userpage template for mine and gave you credit on the code page, but just wanted to make sure that's okay with you. (I know Wikipedia's all about open code, but I'd like to be considerate to others.) Also, if it is okay to use it, can you tell me how to "smush" the upper-right-hand icons together (e.g., globe, commons icon, etc.) and how to move them right? You're amazing. Thanks! --Eustress (talk) 04:03, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can take anything you like from my user page: the content there is free, and therefore, you are free to use it. Regarding the icons at the top of the page, I changed the "px" in the text, which, to be honest, I have trouble doing sometimes as well. It takes a few previews to get it right. Thanks for the compliments. Acalamari 15:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback feature

Hi, I was wondering if you could grant me the rollback feature ? I noticed that you were part of the category of admins willing to grant rollback requests so i thought I should ask you. I know I haven't made a large amount of edits, but I have significantly contributed to afew articles (mainly FAC The Chronic & GA Straight Outta Compton) and I think the tool would help me edit. Please go through my contibs and review if i'm reliable enough. Thanks. - Guerilla In Tha Mist (talk) 15:50, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll review your edits. Just give me a few minutes first. :) Acalamari 15:53, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've granted your rollback request. Just remember that rollback should only be used to revert vandalism, and should not be used to revert good faith edits, and should certainly not be used in revert wars. For additional information and practice with rollback, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 16:03, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question, but what are the warnings for vandalism and removing content here? I am somewhat new to this Wikipedia, but I am a veteran of the Simple English Wikipedia, so I know how to warn someone, it's just that I don't know the warnings here. Please respond on my talk page. Thanks, Razorflame (talk) 15:54, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question/Help

Somehow I seem to have been drawn into an old fashioned mudslinging and I could use a little help. It seems that IP 64.107.1.166 and user Mkil have some history that they need to work out. If you look at the bottom of my talk page youll see more. After reviewing the edits from both it appears that this IP has made some good faith edits (and some bad ones too) and MKil seems to block their every move good or bad. I asked the Anon IP to create an account (could only do so on my talk page so hopefully they read it) but I doubt they will. Anyway since I do not have the tools nor am likely to be getting them anytime soon I wanted to throw this your way. Let me know if you need me to do anything.--Kumioko (talk) 23:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The tools aren't actually needed for this: the thing to do would be to ask Mkil why he reverts the user's edits. However, looking at this and this, it seems that the IP Mkil is reverting is a sockpuppet of someone. Acalamari 23:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pathetic attempt

If you're trolling a user, I think your first port of call would be to troll your brother and ex-boyfriend, but... yikes, she never knew Keilana. Sceptre (talk) 21:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, when I saw the name show up in my watchlist, I had a feeling it was a troll (similar to Sergeant Snopake). I saw all of your effort on that article and I am impressed, the effort is amazing. Great job keep it up. Most of the editors on Pop singer attributed pages are usually vandalising them. Anyway I would really like to work on more articles that need verification or prose of timeline. And I am surprised that you created the Vanessa Hudgens page, who is on The Suite Life. Teen idols like Brenda Song are having many vandalism attacks and are now protected only for admins to edit. I would really like to edit more vandalised pages on Wikipedia. Thank you for your time. --IntoCreativeJan (talk) 1:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliments, but while I've done a lot of work to Beyoncé Knowles‎, the person who's done the most work to the article recently is a user called Efe. Also, I didn't create the Vanessa Hudgens page: I created her template: Template:Vanessa Hudgens, which is used for navigating to articles about her. :) You are right that a lot of vandalism is done to pop singer articles; a lot are semi-protected. Brenda Song, however, is protected due to a dispute rather than vandalism. Acalamari 16:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well...

With an alternate account like "Bellatrix Kerrigan," who wouldn't? I confess I didn't pay too much attention to the opening statements in your RFAs, mostly because I was too busy rushing to support you. bibliomaniac15 20:43, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Assistance Needed

I would like to report a concern regarding the article on Oklahoma Governor David Hall. User:John celona has twice re-added the article to Category:American criminals without discussing the issue on the article's Talk page, first after User:J.delanoy removed the category questioning its appropriateneness, and again after his first addition was reverted. I have discussed this matter with User:J.delanoy, and he and I both believe that administrator intervention is needed to resolve this matter. --TommyBoy (talk) 14:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why administrator intervention is needed, as administrator tools won't help anything at this time: the page doesn't need protection and no blocks are necessary either; plus, there is a discussion going on here regarding the category. This looks more like something that should go to dispute resolution. Acalamari 16:07, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, the David Hall article has been in the category since August 2006, placed there by another user. I have merely reverted the removal of this page from the category while the RFC is pending. John celona (talk) 17:28, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should have used better edit summaries to explain your actions then. Use of the undo feature like this without explaining what you're doing isn't helpful: it would have been better to have replaced the "undid revision xyz by (username)" with a more descriptive summary. Acalamari 17:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Following up on my earlier comments, the situation has escalated to the point of User:John celona and User:Jkp212 engaging in an argument with each other on my UserTalk page relating to the Billy Cannon article, which I have no connection to. I have posted notes on both of their UserTalk pages asking them to please refrain from arguing with each other on my UserTalk page, and I was wondering if any further action should be taken to resolve this matter. --TommyBoy (talk) 23:23, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Regarding the article on Puerto Ricans for Puerto Rico Party that was deleted on the 29th of February, would it be possible for me to extract the elements of that article which I am certain were not in violation of a copyright in order to start up the article again? Some of this information was my own contributions and I would hate for a bad portion to ruin the whole thing. Thanks70.45.100.251 (talk) 00:43, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can restore the non-copyvio versions, yes. Was it you who created the article about this time last year? That version of the page seems to be clean. I can restore that version if you plan to improve the page after a restoration. Acalamari 02:01, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By non-copyviolated versions, are you referring to the article created after the February 29th deletion, which was then deleted by the sole-user in March? I already talked with the administrator of that deletion, and came to understand that it was not the article in which I was interested. Is it possible to restore any version of the article which was deleted February 29th so that I can pick through the information that was not copyvio and restore a clean page? I remember there was a series of points discussing the controversies surrounding the party, which were well redacted and worth saving. BTW, I was not the creator of the article, merely a contributor. Thanks.70.45.100.251 (talk) 15:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After looking at the deleted history, the versions from 24 April 2007 to 30 January 2008 look clean, and don't have any copyright violations in them. Do you want me to restore them for you to edit? Acalamari 15:55, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That would be great! No violations on those versions so I don't have to worry about deleting anything, right? Or do they still need editing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.45.100.251 (talk) 18:27, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the good versions, so Puerto Ricans for Puerto Rico Party is no longer a deleted page. The article just needs some regular clean-up and improving, and if you can do that, that'll be great. Acalamari 19:16, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Much obliged. The version you have kindly restored is missing the bulk of the article, though, which was a list of key discussion points surrounding the party and which I was hoping to rescue. Is it possible to restore the latest, albeit copyvio, version and allow me to extract the information not in violation and rework the information that is? Thanks for your help thus far. 70.45.100.251 (talk) 23:53, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not comfortable with restoring a copyvio version, to be honest. While it's technically possible to restore it, the mere fact it's a copyvio makes me hesitant to restore it. Is it possible to find some other sources for the information, and then write it in your own words? Acalamari 02:11, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure I could gather up the necessary information, I just get the impression that whoever requested the deletion of the article was opposed to the party, not the actual copyright violation. I also suspect that whoever requested the deletion may have exaggerated, since part of what is missing I wrote. Furthermore, whatever was in violation I am almost certain I could get direct permission for, assuming it was taken from the party and not from some pundit or something. I say all this without being terribly familiar with how such a deletion request is verified, so correct me if I misunderstood. Many thanks and a good night.70.45.100.251 (talk) 02:51, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, for information on the deletion process, you may wish to see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion and Wikipedia:Deletion discussions. With the page, the copyvio text came from http://www.porpuertorico.com/Plataforma_english.html and http://www.porpuertorico.com/quienes_somos_english.html if that's any help to you. Rollback request

Aloha Acalamari. I was wondering if you would grant User:Fogster rollback. I've noticed he or she does a good bit of vandalism reversion, and the tool would be helpful in making sure all the versions containing vandalism are reverted. I am going to make a note of this (perhaps unconventional) request on Fogster's talk page. Mahalo nui loa. --Ali'i 17:19, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can grant Fogster rollback if they want it. They are indeed a good vandal-fighter. Acalamari 19:04, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure of the process, but I certainly accept Ali'i's very kind (and very Hawaiian) "nomination." I am familiar with its use, and have made my classic beginner mistakes (inattentively rolling back much more than I wanted to) with rollback on an off-site Wiki I run, so they wouldn't happen here. ;) Fogster (talk) 19:14, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Rollback granted. :) For the record, you can either request rollback at Wikipedia:Requests for rollback or at any administrator's talk page, but I see nothing wrong with one editor suggesting giving rollback to another editor, providing that the "candidate" would make good use of the tool. I guess that, since you're already familiar with rollback, you won't need to visit Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback for additional information and practice. :) Good luck. Lady Aleena's RfA

Acalamari...Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. Through it I have become aware of a great many people who can help me in my future editing endeavors. Even though I was not promoted, your support shows that I still have something to contribute to Wikipedia, even if it is minor edits to fix spelling and grammar to working in WikiProjects to help others make great articles. If you wish to further discuss the nomination, please use its talk page. Stop by my talk page anytime, even if it is just to say hello. Have a wonderful day! - LA @ 03:54, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Guitar Hero Aerosmith

Thanks for semi protecting the page, those vandalizers were getting on my nerves. They all come from a particular chat room and got the brilliant idea that they would vandalize wikipedia. Thanks again, Orangemango (talk) 02:03, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome for the protection. Acalamari 02:05, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback Request

Hello Acalamari. I am interested in having the ability to use the rollback feature and I understand that its use is for clear vandalism. I would appreciate if you would review my contributions and reply with a decision of whether or not you are willing to grant me the privilege. Thanking you in advance. — Dorvaq (talk) 16:04, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have granted you rollback in accordance with your request. I found no problem with your recent reverts, and as long as you understand that rollback is only to be used for reverting vandalism, and not to revert good-faith edits or to revert war, you'll be fine. For practice, you may want to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 16:12, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, and practice is pretty straightforward. — Dorvaq (talk) 16:20, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Copyedit from my "talk" page: Hello Bzuk, I was wondering, would you like rollback rights granted to your account? You do quite a bit of vandal-reverting, and rollback would make that easier for you. Just remember that rollback should only be used to revert obvious vandalism, and should not be used to revert good-faith edits or to revert-war. Acalamari 18:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I would certainly appreciate a tool that would assist in dealing with vandalism as sometimes I do miss the subtle or "sneaky" submissions that can be inserted quite innocuously and be missed. FWiW, please advise how to go about the process of acquiring "rollback" rights. I tend to edit "without a net" and confess that I do not have a good background about the "black arts" of this WickyWacky world. Bzuk (talk) 18:46, 2 May 2008 (UTC).[reply]
I've granted your account rollback, as administrators have the ability to grant rollback. The other way of obtaining rollback would be to file a request at Wikipedia:Requests for rollback, or just ask any admin for it. You may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback for practice. Good luck. Acalamari 18:50, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, and coincidentally, just after practising, I came across my first vandal with multiple edits and the rollback worked like a charm. I will, however, be very judicious in using it because I could eliminate good faith edits if I wasn't careful. FWiW, thanks again. Bzuk (talk) 19:08, 2 May 2008 (UTC).[reply]
You're welcome; it's very useful with reverting vandalism, and if you're careful with the tool, you'll have no problems. Best wishes. Acalamari 19:10, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jeffq, I noticed you revert vandalism occasionally. Would you like me to grant your account rollback rights to help you revert vandalism more easily? Acalamari 21:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thank you. I would appreciate that. I try to be very careful about distinguishing between "vandalism" and anything that appears to be at least arguably good-faith, so I would plan to use it much as I do as a Wikiquote admin — sparingly and only for edits that are obviously malicious or pranks. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 21:20, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Rollback granted. :) Good luck. Acalamari 21:21, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New List

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:21, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Aleena's future

Acalamari...Several people have expressed an interest in my next probable nomination for adminship. Messaging people when it happens would look a lot like canvassing, so I would prefer not doing that. If you are interested in it, you could add this to your watchlist. If it is created, you will know, maybe even before I do depending on how often you check your watchlist. If you wish to gush prior to it being officially up, have fun, but only when it happens please. I am in no particular rush. Have a very nice day! :) - LA @ 10:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lady Aleena, I've added your next RfA to my watchlist. I saw your post on WT:RFA, and I wanted to congratulate you on your behavior there: you're the sort of person we need as an admin. Best wishes. Acalamari 19:19, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption?

Do you participate in the adoption process? If so, I would be honored if you were to take me under your wing. I feel that I have a decent grasp of the basics of Wikipedia, now it's time to expand my knowledge toward a hopefully successfull RfA in the future. If you do not participate in the process, but might be willing to point me in the direction of someone who does that you trust, I would appreciate that, as well! --InDeBiz1 (talk) 04:00, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not involved with Adopt-a-user. However, one person who is in Adopt-a-user according to Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters is Dihydrogen Monoxide. He is not an admin, but he's a great Wikipedian, is very experienced, and has my trust: he might be willing to take you on. If he's not able to, I'm sure either he or I can suggest another person who might be able to adopt you. Even though I'm not part of Adopt-a-user, thank you for approaching me. :) Acalamari 20:49, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note regarding closing RfAs

When closing RfAs, either by SNOW-closure or after a candidate withdraws, be sure to add the RfA to the list of unsuccessful candidacies. Cheers, Enigma message 02:15, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, heh, I normally do that. :) With the recent closure, I was actually thinking more about an encouraging message to the candidate rather than the unsuccessful candidacies lists, and thus, accidentally forgot to add the RfA there. Acalamari 02:18, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, I cleaned up after you. ;) I found out about this recently, when I closed an RfA without following all the steps. Now I know to 1)add the boilerplates at top and bottom 2)Update the count, strike out the scheduled to close by date, and add a closing reason (those are the parts I knew to do) 3)remove the Voice Your Opinion link 4)Notify the candidate and 5)add it to the list of unsuccessful candidacies.
While I'm still nit-picking you, I noticed that while you got it right earlier, you slipped up on a 'you're welcome'. :P "Your welcome, and thanks for that revert too! :)" :D Enigma message 02:25, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Account creator

Note regarding giving out "accountcreator" rights, please make sure that those users you give the rights to have any knowledge of what the right is suppose to be and secondly if they are actually willing to help or just create fake new accounts for themselves which may become a problem as you might have seen on some other testwikis..thanks.. we will be creating a Guideline/policy for admins on who to give the rights to in a couple of days..Thankies..--Cometstyles 02:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, I'm not going to give the new right out to people who'll abuse it. :) Where's the new policy page? Acalamari 18:17, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I see you are interested in know a little bit more about some of the new user-rights, I went ahead (with the help of SQL and giggy) and created Wikipedia:New admin school/Accountcreator granting and revoking, so feel free to take a look! Cheers, Tiptoety talk 21:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I've seen it. :) I was thinking it may be edited to match the format of Wikipedia:New admin school/Granting and revoking rollback, as it deals with userrights, or perhaps the pages could even be merged. Acalamari 21:55, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are more than welcome to make some changes as it is still new, but I think it having its own page is a good idea. Tiptoety talk 22:00, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the formatting is more important than merging, in all fairness. I'll help with that. Acalamari 22:02, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, great! I went ahead and moved the page to standardize the name to match that of the rollback page. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 22:04, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good move: I'll sort the formatting out soon. Acalamari 22:06, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help in Linking to pages

I would like to link this orphan image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Charles_Sainte-Claire_Deville.jpg

To this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Joseph_Sainte-Claire_Deville

But I don't know how to link pages together :-(

I have read the instructions, but they don't make sense to me. I'm looking for the user friendly button that says link what where ;-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Professor Plum (talkcontribs) 04:16, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just add into the article. That will add the image. To link to a page, use the following brackets: , so if I want to link to the Christina Aguilera article, I do that by typing in Christina Aguilera, which creates Christina Aguilera. Rfb participation thanks

Hello, Acalamari.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your both your early and strong support. Also, I already have the T-shirt. You wouldn't happen to have a sweatshirt, would you? -- Avi (talk) 17:00, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

for the user talkpage reverts. They, were as always, very much appreciated. :) I have a question though, I have been informed of another apparent spoof which is currently unblocked but they haven't edited two days so the username may or may not cause confusion. I was wondering if I should go ahead and report the name or wait to see if they edit from the account again before taking the appropriate action. With the other spoofs, as you know, each was blocked within minutes of editing/account creation so that's why I'm unsure what to do with this one. Cheers for the advice in advance :) AngelOfSadness talk 20:00, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome for the revert! :) I've gone ahead and blocked that spoof: by the fact they informed you that they were a spoof means that they were deliberately trying to cause trouble. Blocked. This edit looks interesting too... Acalamari 20:18, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers. I kinda guessed that :). It's strange with the last diff because after the signature was changed, I archived my talkpage and the editor who changed the sig, informed me again of the spoof. Sounds like someone was an eager beaver to make sure I knew about the fifth spoof. AngelOfSadness talk 20:25, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See, I told you that you would get more spoofs. :) You're welcome for the block. Acalamari 20:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Research Followup

Hey. The specifics of this project are regarding the validity of wikipedia, and the third of the group which I am responsible for is a more sympathetic slant. Essentially I just need an interview with someone of your position in order to validate my part of the project. (Note: I'm in highschool) Goat77 (talk) 17:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation, and since you said you're in high-school, I assume that your research project is being done for a high school project then? That's what I'd like to know. Thank you. Acalamari 17:18, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yes it is for school, ha... Forgot to specify that. Anyways, yes, this is a project for school. The assignment is specifically a "controversial topic: perspectives" research project, in which I'm responsible for the "insider" perspective as opposed to "student" or "teacher" perspectives. I haven't systematically gone through the ones from last night, although it looks like other admins have protected a lot of those pages already. I'll be finished with countries today. My RfA

Hi Acalamari, I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. Thanks for granting rollback, I will not abuse the use of this tool. Peterpipper (talk) 20:35, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mate, I'm really sorry, but I've removed the right from this user. Please see Wikipedia:RFCU#Chris19910. I'm deeply concerned about potential damage. Please review this users first edits (yesterday) to note further my concerns of sock puppetry. Pedro :  Chat  20:37, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was not aware of that particular sockpuppeteer. Thanks for catching it. :) I've given some 350 people rollback, so one or two mistakes such as this shouldn't be too much of a problem, should it? :) Acalamari 20:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it'll be an issue :) !! I may well be wrong about this user, and hope to engage the editor in dialogue. But I have a lot of "evidence", including some that is not on this wiki, that this is a blocked user evading their block. Better safe than sorry here. WP:RFCU will resolve it. I'll see what RFCU says, too. Thanks again Pedro! :) Acalamari 21:05, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya, Ac-ala-mari. I made a post at RfR myself, and upon rereading what I wrote, I'm hoping you took no offense to my comments. You are a prolific RfR grantor, something I'm slowly working my way into. I didn't mean for my comment to come off too harsh, and I'm hoping you didn't take it that way. Cheers, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 21:03, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's okay Keeper76. :) I'm just more embarrassed that's all (not to mention warm from the weather here!). :) I'm normally more careful with rollback grantings, but in this case, I made an error. This'll only make me more careful. :) Acalamari 21:05, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Warm? What's that like? Glad there's no hard feelings. Best for all to move along I suspect. I also suspect the user in question will be blocked indef within 24 hours. Wanna bet me? Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 21:11, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nearly 80 out. :) Yes, no hard feelings at all: best to just move on and learn. :) As for the user, I'll go with the bet: if he's blocked, you can send your cold weather out West in exchange for some sunshine, and you can have a free hat too! :) How does that sound? :) Acalamari 21:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Teen pop template

Hey! You seem to have contributed a lot to the teen pop articles! I'm placing the teen pop template on the different artists listed on the teen pop page. Some of them (as you have identified), are seemingly incorrect. If people identify the artist as not being "teen pop", they can remove the template from the page, as well as the reference on the teen pop page. Thanks =) --Xx kidschoice xx (talk) 22:05, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the prompt response and explanation. Yes, I've edited a lot of articles to do with popular musicians and their music. :) To be honest, the main reason I was asking is because I was curious to why you added them: the big template isn't really needed, however, it would be easier just to add "teen pop" to the genres of those musicians rather than a template. On another note, welcome to Wikipedia: I do hope you'll decide to stay and contribute here. Acalamari 22:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the intro lol. Yeah, I agree with you for instance - like Robbie Williams... I don't think he is purely targetting teens ... I guess it's all apart of making the teen pop section better and getting more kids involved in editing those articles. It's actually surprisingly small :/ LOL! But take for instance, Miley Cyrus or Aly & AJ, so much of their stuff is purely teen-oriented, kid's will be really interested in finding about, say, other teen popstars, or information on adolescence, etc. --Xx kidschoice xx (talk) 22:17, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thank you for your contributions then: the popular culture articles are edited a lot, and more people willing to help out there will be a good thing. I do have one suggestion though: I think it may be a good idea to have a look at Help:Edit summary and consider using edit summaries; when using them you'll be able to explain what you're doing when making an edit, and it'll be useful for other editors to know what you're doing. In the meantime, happy editing. Acalamari 22:24, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

Thank you for granting rollback to me, much appreciated :) Baberlp (talk) 17:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! You'll find it very useful for reverting obvious vandalism. Best wishes. Acalamari 17:58, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

The first three of those four actually did strike me as at the very least non-constructive edits. The first seemed to me to be an uncited claim that the band had released two near-identical albums for the purpose of making money, the second I see now I misinterpreted - I read it as directly contradicting the paragraph above, and the third was removal of a legitimate tag when the quote hadn't yet been properly cited. The fourth struck me as insulting to the subject by the change of word, but true, that one shouldn't have been rolled back. I'll be more careful about which method I use in future - please don't remove the use of rollback for four possibly mistaken uses with many correct ones? Katharineamy (talk) 19:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response. No, I won't remove your rollback for those diffs, as I prefer to discuss with a user first rather than remove rollback rights from them: I had a look at some at some of your other reverts later, and they looked fine, so yes, your reverts have mostly been good, but I still wanted to ask about the other diffs. Anyway, I accept your explanation, and if you plan to be more careful in future with the rollback tool, then you'll be fine. :) Best wishes and happy editing. Acalamari 19:10, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Tom Hanks

No objections. You did it for a week, which would have been a fine starting point. Always could have extended it later, which is why I declined it. But since you already did it, no problem. - Rjd0060 (talk) 23:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay then. Thanks for your input. Acalamari 23:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. I attempted to translate the data from the old version to the new, but with the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again. Useight (talk) 03:50, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFA Thanks

Thanks for your support at my recent Request for adminship. I hope you find I live up to your expectations. Best, Risker (talk) 16:09, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yay, thanks! I was wondering if I'd get one of these.Lol, small things! Admin school was useful because it broke down the processes in stages. It was the first day and I noticed the DYK was out of date; I updated it but botched it up the first time I think, leaving the DYK navbox on the main page for about 14 seconds! It took about 15 minutes for me to pluck up the courage to press "save page" again! But it's going well, and no-one's come up to me and said I've done something wrong yet, so that must be a good sign. :) Thanks again and best, PeterSymonds (talk) 16:17, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome for the T-shirt. :) Yes, it can be tough being a new admin: other users, including myself, did take some time to get used to the new tools. You'll settle in soon enough. :) Best wishes. Acalamari 16:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination

I now have accepted the nomination and answered all the questions. :) Best wishes, —αἰτίας discussion 21:16, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aren't you going to add it to the RfA main page? :) Acalamari 21:17, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you are going to do that. Now I did it. ;-) —αἰτίας discussion 21:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I would have done, but I thought that you wanted to do it. :) Acalamari 22:45, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching

Sorry Acalamari, I have been inactive for a month because I dont have enough time to edit on Wikipedia. However, I will be online and more active to answer the remaining questions for my admin coaching by June. Sorry for the wait :) // A Raider Like Indiana 00:58, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry. :) Just answer when you have time. Acalamari 17:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thank-spam

Acalamari, just a note of appreciation for your recent support of my request for adminship, which ended successfully with 112 supports, 2 opposes, and 1 neutral. If there's something I've realized during my RFA process this last week, it's that adminship is primarily about trust. I will strive to honour that trust in my future interactions with the community. Many thanks! Gatoclass (talk) 06:26, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Acalamari. And BTW just between you and me, I'm afraid I've mostly used that rollback feature to undo my own mistakes! :p Gatoclass (talk) 09:04, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome for the support, and for rollback! Good luck! Acalamari 17:57, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

accusation of vandalism

Hi, I made several corrections to the article on Linear B, which contained numerous errors. Someone reverted all of them and accused me of vandalism!!! Can you help me on this matter? I'd like to help improve your articles, but what's the point when anyone can make unfounded accusations and undermine the improvement of the information you are offering? Thanks for having a look.wakan (talk) 12:57, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you were falsely accused of vandalism, the best thing to do is to talk to the user who accused you, and explain why your edit was not vandalism. Which user accused you vandalism? Acalamari 18:51, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

Your message came when I am in the middle of some Wikistress (on ANI) and when another admin is saying that the message wizard is very unhelpful. Thanks for helping me cheer up! Stifle (talk) 23:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I noticed that after posting the Barnstar. :) Funny coincidence. Anyway, I think the wizard is great, and you're welcome for the Barnstar. Best wishes. Acalamari 23:49, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Thanks Acalamari, I accept. Gwen Gale (talk) 01:14, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks!

RfA: Many thanks
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 06:16, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

How should I deal with this? J.delanoygabsadds 18:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind... J.delanoygabsadds 19:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I was just going to say ignore and/or remove it, as it appears false. That's all you need to do here. Acalamari 19:20, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was just on Huggle and I saw him accuse another user of the same thing, and then I went to his talk page and saw that he impersonated User:PersianPoetGal. I was going to take it to ANI. Do you think I should? J.delanoygabsadds 19:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you think that's a good idea, go ahead, though I suggest making an attempt to talk to the user first instead of going to ANI immediately. I know I said above to ignore the sockpuppet accusation, but I do think it'll be a good idea to ask the user what they're up to. Hope that helps. Acalamari 19:26, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Email

Greetings! I was wondering if I could consult on an issue with you via email? Let me know (I have your talk page watched), thanks! --ImmortalGoddezz (t/c) 20:43, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. :) Send away. Acalamari 20:45, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You now have a response. :) Acalamari 21:19, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was just curious, with the dead links and all, why can't a page ever be permanently deleted from a wikia? Isn't it pretty useless to have all those dead links to banned users or anything among the wikia community. I just wanted to know. Lovemuffin333 03:08, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you referring to something on Wikia? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Wikia policies and processes. Acalamari 15:17, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well for anything wiki as seen here, there are quite a few pages that are unnecessary but "still exist". Lovemuffin333 22:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're referring to redlinks? For example, this link here? Acalamari 22:56, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well yeah redlinks, it's just that for pages such this, those redlinks can clog up space, so why can't they be permanently deleted as to not appear in that list anymore? Lovemuffin333 05:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:37, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your page

Happy to help, but sorry that the need arose. You seem to be attracting an unusual amount of flak lately. Kafka Liz (talk) 15:32, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh: just some IP-sockpuppeteer who has decided to vandalize my user and talk pages now that an article they were vandalizing previously has been protected. :) Thanks again. Acalamari 15:35, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ryulong's talk page

Please stop edit warring on Ryulong's talk page. That message is redundant and may as well be deleted. If you continue to revert, or the message is allowed to remain, it will only result in more time wasting so please stop. What was wrong with my attempt to close the AFD btw? I am only trying to help clean up around here so more established/experienced users can get on with improving articles, rather than dealing with administration. Arrogant & Intransigent (talk) 15:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's heavily frowned upon to remove good-faith comments from talk pages, even if they are redundant, and considered vandalism to remove them disruptively: even if that person's posting is "redundant", that's not a reason to remove it. With the AfD, they're normally left to run for five days, and about one day of discussion and three votes to delete is not a "snow" or "speedy" closure. While you probably had good intentions when closing that AfD, I had to reverse it because it wasn't really appropriate. Acalamari 16:02, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should try out for the olympics :- ). --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 22:45, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
