KURE

Philosopher, I welcome your feedback and editing to the recently updated KURE article. Clintpickard (talk) 02:50, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks okay, for a start-class article. I would recommend providing sources within the article and expanding based on current events - has the radio station been in the news lately? Does it have any interesting/notable history? I also have a concern regarding notability - it is not clear from the current content of the article that it meets the general notability guideline - referencing will help solve this problem, though you may wish to make changes to the introduction or to the body of the article so that it asserts notability. Unfortunately, I am not an expert in radio articles, so I doubt that I will be able to help you with content-related inquiries, but feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or comments. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 11:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC) cc: User talk:Clintpickard[reply]

Custom Watchlists

Hi, any chance you could look at my page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:DougWeller/Noticeboardswatchlist and tell me how to make it work as a custom watchlist? thanks.--Doug Weller (talk) 20:15, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just go to "Related Changes" and you can see the "watchlist" you've created - it will track the changes for all the links on the page. The one caveat is that if your link points to a page via a redirect, it'll only tell you if the redirect is changed...which rarely happens.
If you would like to create a link to the "watchlist" page, simply use the following format:
[[Special:Recentchangeslinked/PAGENAME]]
where PAGENAME is the name of the page you wish to use. In this case, the link you want is
[[Special:Recentchangeslinked/User:DougWeller/Noticeboardswatchlist]]
(which you can preview here). Hope this helps! --Philosopher Let us reason together. 22:44, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

I wanted to apologize for possibly adding undue weight through wordy posting early in your RfA. I hate doing this... yet I fell into the "post a wordy neutral, change to oppose and post more, start arguing with supports" etc. This is bad, especially early in the RfA, and I removed most of the stuff I originally posted that I saw as cruft I was contributing to. Naerii permitted me to remove our discussion as it wasn't adding much to the RfA. Good luck to you. Gwynand | TalkContribs 19:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I said it there, but it should be said here too...I'm REALLY sorry for what my question has caused, and I really really hope it doesn't take your RfA. You don't deserve that. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 08:33, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

chill out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wtf is up with you i mean i was just kidding around and you went like crazy don't take things so serously. chill out a get a life!! <3 me LOL W/E — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.84.169.60 (talkcontribs) on 28 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but blanking encyclopedia pages is not acceptable - even as a joke. If you would like a place to "kid around", I suggest you go somewhere else. If you would like to test Wikipedia editing features, I'd recommend the WP:SANDBOX. Finally, if you would like to become a constructive Wikipedia editor, I would be glad to help you get started. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 00:31, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chuck Soderberg page edit.

Hi Philosopher. I've had another go at that Chuck Soderberg page I (badly) edited. I think (hope!) I've got it right this time. Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Monty. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Montyblue (talkcontribs) 18:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a few minor formatting changes, but the content looks great!  :-D --Philosopher Let us reason together. 20:48, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are cordially invited to participate in WikiProject Christianity

The goal of WikiProject Christianity is to improve the quality and quantity of information about Christianity available on Wikipedia. WP:X as a group does not prefer any particular tradition or denominination of Christianity, but prefers that all Christian traditions are fairly and accurately represented.

I thought you might be intersted -- ₮inucherian (Talk) - 04:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite! --Philosopher Let us reason together. 09:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are now an administrator

Congratulations, I have just closed your RfA as successful and made you an administrator. Take a look at the administrators' how-to guide and the administrators' reading list if you haven't read those already. Also, the practice exercises at the new admin school may be useful. If you have any questions, get in touch on my talk page. WjBscribe 09:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That was one of the more ridiculous RFAs I've seen in a while, and I'm very impressed with your "composure under fire". Well earned tools my friend. Don't do anything stupid now...:-) Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 14:11, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What do you know, I realized I had been +sysop'ed when I saw I could edit the Main Page! But don't worry, I didn't delete it. :P --Philosopher Let us reason together. 18:42, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations on getting through the difficult RfA. Best wishes as you carry out your new admin duties. --Gwguffey (talk) 15:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up

Just to be prudent, I wanted to let you know about a discussion I started on the RfA talk page. I mention your RfA as an example, but the discussion is intended as a wider discussion on a particular issue. It actually has nothing to do with Philosopher, the editor/admin. Just an FYI. Gwynand | TalkContribs 16:09, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and congrats on becoming a new admin. Gwynand | TalkContribs 16:10, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - for the notice and for the congrats.  :) --Philosopher Let us reason together. 16:25, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the TVC article

Heya, thought I'd let you know that the material Chuck.lange was adding to Traditional Values Coalition was not only POV-stilted but a blatant copyright violation (e.g., http://www.traditionalvalues.org/pdf_files/bio_rev_lou_sheldon.pdf). I've reverted a couple more edits he's made since then, where he just put his POV-stilted text up and put the original article as a subsection called "opposing views". Heh. I'm starting to wonder what his affiliation with TVC is. Mendaliv (talk) 05:34, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. Thanks, I hadn't checked it for copyvio. I think he had a point about the article violating NPOV, but adding copyvio sure isn't going to solve that problem! --Philosopher Let us reason together. 05:37, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem; his big mistake was when he effectively reverted your revert and the text he used had some mysterious linebreaks that made it pretty clear he'd taken it from somewhere else. (Also, fyi, the User talk link in your sig above doesn't seem to work) Mendaliv (talk) 07:18, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tbilisi Nato bus image speedy deletion - image still exists

The Tbilisi Nato bus image, it says you deleted it, yet it's still here [2]?--Miyokan (talk) 10:13, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe what happened is that I deleted the Wikipedia version - what still exists exists at Wikimedia Commons and would have to be deleted by an administrator there. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 14:07, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to take over the account tr:Kullanıcı:Philosopher ([3]); I am Philosopher on several projects, including the English Wikipedia (admin) and Meta. I would like to be able to use that name everywhere with the SUL. I apologize for not putting this on the page for renaming requests, but I don't know the language and couldn't find a translator that advanced. Thanks, Philosopher2 22:57, 5 Mayıs 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I put your request on tr:Vikipedi:Kullanıcı adı değiştirme/El koyma (username usurpation page). tr:Kullanıcı:Philosopher has no e-mail adress given so I left a message on his talk page tr:Kullanıcı mesaj:Philosopher informing of your demand. User has only three edits but some deleted edits as well. If he/she does not respond in seven days I will proceed to username change. --Mskyrider (talk) 16:47, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! --Philosopher Let us reason together. 18:59, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for username usurpation is approved and modification is done. --Mskyrider (talk) 03:12, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Intelligent Mail Barcode Deletion

Hi Philosopher. I am working with Pitney Bowes on making edits to expand and improve the Intelligent Mail Barcode page. We noticed that some of our material had been deleted, and I wanted to give you some background on our efforts. We had used the talk pages to discuss our edits to ensure the page was as accurate as possible, however, this discussion was removed. We understand this might be the reason our edits were removed from the actual article. We would like to start over on this page and explain the edits we would like to make to improve the article. If we do not receive any feedback from you within 78 hours, we will be starting from scratch on the talk pages for Intelligent Mail Barcode. We appreciate your understanding as we improve this article. Vlbastekzeta (talk) 14:52, 12 May 2008 (UTC) on behalf of Pitney Bowes[reply]

Response to Barcode Deletion

Thanks for getting back to me! We were in the midst of examining the copyright violation. It looks like the old information was taken from a site that Pitney Bowes now manages, however, the original information was not posted by our group. I see that you've left an outline of some of the information we were adding, and we are planning to work from this outline to keep the article informative and to ensure that no further copyright violations occur. These edits will be on the talk pages in a few weeks. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to me! We certainly appreciate your help with this article. Vlbastekzeta (talk) 17:29, 13 May 2008 (UTC) on behalf of Pitney Bowes[reply]

Rfb participation thanks

Hello, Philosopher.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your support, and good luck with the shiny new mop-and-flamethrower™ :-) . -- Avi (talk) 18:42, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
