This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Charansagar (talk | contribs) at 11:10, 22 May 2008 (being a first time user it's been pretty hard for me to write an artical: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Before you leave a message about CorenSearchBot leaving a template on your talk page:
  • If you were attempting to rename an article or create a disambiguation page: Compliance with the GFDL requires that the article be actually moved rather than copied with cut-and-paste to preserve editing history. Please tag the new copy with {{db-move}} and an administrator will be able to assist you.
  • If the original source was itself a copy of Wikipedia text: Reusing the text is probably okay, but make sure you link back to the original article to comply with the GFDL. If the site CSBot found is a Wikipedia mirror, you may want to notify me so I can add it to the list for the future.
  • If the original source is in the public domain: Reusing the text is okay, but you almost certainly want to attribute it with an appropriate template (such as {{DANFS}} or {{1911}}); this will cause CSBot to leave the article alone.
If you did attribute it with an appropriate template, but it was still flagged as a copyvio, then it's probable the bot does not know the template you have used. You might want to tell me on this page so I can add it to the list.

Otherwise, remember that text found on other web pages is copyrighted by default. Unless there is an explicit permission on the page (or site) allowing reuse without conditions (or under the GFDL) you can not use that text in a Wikipedia article!

Thank you!

Esasus (Esasus (talk) 16:36, 15 May 2008 (UTC)) I am attempting to move the article on author "George Scurfield" to "George Bazeley Scurfield" to avoid future confusion with others of his same name.[reply]

Impact88

I just added the latest Mustasch album Lowlife Highlights. The bot claims that "it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.gomusic.ru/album.aspx?id=68127&ap=rssu " . A tracklist can't look in many different ways, I just looked in the album booklet. I fail to see how a tracklist can infringe on anyone's copyright. (User:Impact88) 20:00, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nabari no Ou

Coren, the contents of the Nabari no Ou page in Wikipedia does not include a substantial copy of: http://www.xanadu-dreams.net/timcampi.html Your bot should take this into consideration.

Cathal Twomey

I recently editted the summary of Finding the Fox, which was at that time part of the aricle on the Shapeshifter series. When I had completed my editting, I realised that the summary was far too long not to be in an article of its own. I therefore created one. However, before I could remove the version of the summary from the Shapeshifter article, I recieved a complaint from Coren that my summary appeared to be a copy of the Shapeshifter article. I have since removed the summary from the Shapeshifter article, and the only version of it now exists in the Finding the Fox article. I apologise for any inconvenience I may have caused. nictoglobe entry

Dear Coren,

As I am the publisher and owner and legal entity regarding nictoglobe, I wonder what the possible copyright problem is all about.

Please explain

Sincerely

Removed tag: indeed the new page for Villa Magna copied text from the website of the excavation: mostly a passage from an ancient source (Marcus Aurelius' letter to Fronto) and its translation. Elsewhere, when things were too close, I have edited. Hope this is sufficient. Thanks Caroline.goodson (talk) 08:09, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Z. Randall Stroope

The content of the bio of Z. Randall Stroope which was offered was taken directly from his own website www.zrstroope.com and belongs to him. It is at his request that this Wikipedia article was opened. Cdavis39 (talk) 18:13, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Institute of Scottish Historical Research

Dear Coren,

You have flagged up an issue between my entry on the Institute of Scottish Historical Research and the website http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/ishr.

The text is not from this site (and I wrote the text for that site in any case) so donate it to the public domain.

Please do not remove my article.

Many thanks cooncilkatie Cooncilkatie (talk) 19:04, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CorenSearchBot

I want to ask you about the algorithm that your bot uses to calculate the score of the page (the similarity between wikipedia page and external page), because I want to use it in a PHP script. Thank you in advance. --AhmadSherif (talk) 12:04, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Memopal

Dear Coren, I work for Memopal. I wrote the new voice 'Memopal', but I didn't copy any text. I wrote some press releases that you can find here [1] and that press staff can use for articles, but copyright belong to Memopal.

How can I do to publish Memopal's voice on wikipedia? Thanks

being a first time user it's been pretty hard for me to write an artical

Hi coren,

I wrote an artical about handsfree networks on 15/05/2008 and you have suggested me to rework on it to make it look better. Since than i was over excited as a first time writer and searched other artical to present my artical better but every time is failed as my artical was deleted on speedy deletion....

If u go through the artical i wrote on 15/05/2008 and latest is more or less same but tryed to improve something, tough i don't have a strong command over the language it went wrong ever time...I would like you to post my atrical i wrote on 15/05/2008 that you origanally accepted for rework.

It would encourage me to improve and i will work to improve it...thanks
