Ferb Fletcher is a character made for Disney Channel's animated series , Phineas and Ferb. He was created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, and is voiced by Thomas Sangster.
Personality
Ferb is a very quiet, but not exactly shy, boy. He is incredibly smart and has a great sense for mechanics. He doesn't say much, but is always willing to help with Phineas' crazy ideas. When Ferb does talk, however, he speaks in a very sophisticated British accent. In every episode, he is known for saying one or two lines.
Relationships
- Phineas Flynn: Phineas and Ferb are seemingly inseparable. They do everything together and make the greatest pair in the best-day-ever field. Phineas is the dreamer of the duo and comes up with all the plans. Ferb usually goes to great lengths to help mechanically.
- Candace Flynn: Even though Candace is his step-sister, Ferb treats her as if they were really related. He helped carve her face into the Mt. Rushmore on her birthday, edited her horrible acting take, and filmed her "Mom, It's Your Birthday" song. He does correct or comment about her on several occasions. For example, in the episode "Run Away Runway", Candace said that she will always be the designer's "cou de crayon"; he points out, "You do realize that's French for pencil neck." In "Journey to The Centre of Candace", When Phineas tells him they are inside Candace, he says "That's creepy on so many levels." When Phineas hooks up their submarine to Candace's visual and hearing centers, and Phineas says that technically they are going on a date with Jeremy as well, he says "Again, that's creepy on so many levels."
- Linda Flynn: Linda is Ferb's step-mother. In "Dude, We're Gettin' the Band Back Together!", it is revealed that she fell in love with his father at a Love Handel concert. Ferb is very nice to her as a mother as he helped with their anniversary and even when to the lengths to yell to his dad, "Don't Just stand there, KISS HER!" We don't know if he calls her mum, since he doesn't talk enough.
- Lawrence Fletcher: Lawrence is Ferb's real father. He and his father are from the United Kingdom and have a heavy British accent. He has the normal relationship any son has with his dad with the exception that Ferb doesn't talk much.
- Isabella Garcia-Shapiro: Isabella is a friend of both Phineas and Ferb's, helping out whenever possible.
In the episode "I Scream You Scream", it was revealed that Ferb had a crush on Dr.Doofenshmirtz's daughter, Vanessa. When Phineas asks him how he managed to get the blueprints mixed up, his reply was, "I was weak".
Abilities
Ferb weilds an amazing mechanics and technological skill. He has almost single-handedly built: a roller coaster and track, a real radio-controled race car, several arenas and statiums, a space ray (which was supposed to be an ice cream maker but the plans got confused), a monster truck , a shrinking submarine, and a time machine.
Ferb seems to be able to play a variety of instruments starting with the guitar, bass, keyboard, trumpet, and the drums. He is also seen singing on a few occasions.
Lines
Rollercoaster - “They’re (platypus) the only mammals to lay eggs.” (Which isn't true, echidnas also lay eggs and are mammals, however, they are not as well known as platypuses).
Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror - First, he sang the "Backyard Beach" song, (not the voice of Thomas Sangster) and "With a slight chance of scattered lawn gnomes."
Flop Starz - Ferb's line here is actually a line in their song, "Baby, baby, baby". (It's not the voice of Thomas Sangster).
The Fast and the Phineas - Ferb says nothing in this episode, but plays keyboards.
Lights, Candace, Action - "But the Internet is forever." Also, he made angry monkey noises when Phineas gave Candace a sandwich and said "Ferb hasn't eaten lunch yet."
Raging Bully - Ferb says two lines in this episode, the first a fact about nature: "Sharks have to continue to move forward or they'll drown." and the next one was a justification to why he used the Vulcan neck grip on Buford: "Well, he was all up in my face."
Candace Loses Her Head - "Well it was definitely better than the gorilla in the cake."
I, Brobot Ferb says nothing in this episode.
Runaway Run Way - "You do realize that that's French for pencil neck."
The Magnificent Few - "I reckon herding cattle ain't for city folk."
S’Winter - "It's a unique logic defying amalgam of 'winter' and 'summer'."
Jerk de Soleil - "Perhaps Buford truly is amazing."
Are You My Mummy - "You know, mummies have their brains pulled out of their nose."
Ready For the Bettys - "Actually, I.." "Actually..." "Actually..." "Look - for the last time, I didn't..." "Actually, I..." "UGH! I give up!" (he was saying these while trying to explain that he didn't make a "secret" spy base. The most time he has ever spoken in any episode.)
I Scream, You Scream - "I was weak". He said this in response to Phineas asking why he messed up the plan (he has a crush on Doofenshmirtz's daughter, Vanessa).
Toy to the World - "Um, that man isn't wearing any clothes," and "It does absolutely nothing." (Ferb was talking about the Brick toy when he and Phineas saw the commercial).he also does some funny-sounding demonstrations of the new "Perry Inaction Figure" (Thomas Sangster's voice). He does an airplane noise, a car noise, whinny, and does a tango tune (going "a-brrrrum-bum-bumbum-bum-bum"). He also does a summoning whistle.
Get That Bigfoot Outta My Face - "Well actually, I..."
It's a Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud, World - "Because she's a tire-spinning, gear-grinding, clutch-burning, backfiring, paint-trading, red-lining, overheating-throttle-stumping, truck-driving girl." He also helps Phineas sing the musical number.
Mom's Birthday - "It's a simple post-modern fusion of origami and pop-art," explaining to Mom what her special birthday card was. He also sings bass for Candace's song.
Journey to the Center of Candace - "That's creepy on so many levels," and "Again, creepy on so many levels." He also pant-laughs like a dog.
It's About Time - "This could be a problem" and "Well I hope thats not gonna be an issue".
Dude, We're Gettin' The Band Back Together! - "May we take that as a yes?" and "Well, don't just stand there, KISS HER!". He is also seen singing a part of the "I'm Fabulous" song.
Frankenstien's Smartacle Brain To Be Melted - "Frankenstien has finally left the building." "To a shower I hope."
Tree To Get Ready - "Fun never falls too far from the treehouse." (finishing Phineas' sentence) He also clucks like a chicken.
Greece Lightning - "No, not taking any chances." and "Still not looking."
Leave the Busting to Us! - "You know, the gladiators were Roman, not Greek." and "And that is why I will NEVER wear suspenders in public."
The Flying Fishmonger - "When he was young he did a bunch of stuff" and "I have no idea what that was".
One Little Scare Outta Do It - "Definitly the giant baby head." (Answering Phineas's question). He also evilly laughs like Frankenstien.
Trivia
- Ferb is left-handed. He's often drawing with his left hand. However, many other things he does are with his right hand like playing his instrument with his right hand (The Magnificent Few- He is seen playing the guitar on the pony with his right hand). He may be ambidexterous.
- In scenes where he and phineas are sitting under a tree he is usualy seen reading a yellow book with an apple on the cover.
- It's been hinted several times that Ferb may have an older, blood sister. What should also be interesting, though, is although he's eleven years old, he likes girls, thus suggesting that he's been raised with a girl.
- If one can look carefully during "Lawn Gnome Beach Party Of Terror", when Ferb is singing the "Backyard Beach" song, he looks to be gaining some muscle, but yet when he has his normal clothes on, he appears skinny and not muscular at all. It should also be interesting to note that at the end of Lawn Gnome Beach Party Of Terror, when the fence goes up, Ferb has his Backyard Beach Song bathing suit on, but yet when their mother comes home, you suddenly see both Phineas and Ferb in their normal clothes.
- Ferb can surf, as seen in Lawn Gnome Beach Party Of Terror.
