Exorcists
Allen Walker
Aren Wōkā (アレン・ウォーカー) Seiyū: Sanae Kobayashi Allen Walker is an Exorcist of British origin and the main protagonist of the said series. He is polite and gets along well with everyone he meets, the exception being Yu Kanda. He is apparently cheerful, smiling quite often. He is also quite empathetic, caring about the souls of the akuma he sees with his cursed left eye, as well as becoming an Exorcist for his foster father, Mana Walker. His true surname is unknown. It is shown that he once only cared about the akuma, and that they were the only thing precious to him, but that he changed and truly cared about the people he met in the Black Order.
Allen is an orphan who was abandoned by his biological parents because of the supposed "deformity" of his left arm (which was later revealed to be caused by his Innocence). He was eventually found and adopted by Mana Walker on Christmas Day. Though the circumstances were never revealed (though the anime supplies one possible cause with a scene of an overturned carriage), Mana died, and Allen, tormented with grief, turned Mana into an Akuma, hoping that his beloved surrogate father would be fully resurrected. But the Mana Akuma cursed Allen and sliced through his left eye, leaving the "Pentacle" -- the mark of the Akuma -- which scars the left side of his face and turns his hair white. This enabled his left eye to see the souls trapped within the Akuma from then on. It was at this same moment that Allen's left arm first invoked as an anti-Akuma weapon, which instinctively destroyed the Mana Akuma.
Allen eventually met Cross Marian, a general of the Black Order, who explained to Allen the ways of the Akuma and the trapped souls within them: Once a soul becomes trapped inside an Akuma, they are trapped forever; and that the only way to save one is to exorcise them from their Akuma vessel. Allen subsequently became Cross' disciple and spent the next three years with him before being sent to the Black Order to become an official exorcist.
In chapter 160, the infected Matron bit his left arm. However, the effect of the bite, which would have turned him into a zombie-type creature, was slowed. This is possibly due to his Innocence. Despite this, Allen states he's "feeling a little wierd" and is showing obvious physical signs of the zombie state, typically veins around black eyes. Even so, it appears he's consciously trying to surpress the virus due to his pride as an English gentlemen
Unlike other characters of the series Allen's skills and powers are not just one thing which are as followed:
Crown Clown: The Innocence of Exorcism Allen's anti-Akuma weapon, initially unnamed, is a rare, parasite-type Innocence that shares a symbiotic relationship with Allen's body. It appears as a cross-shaped shard embedded in the back of his left hand, which causes his entire left arm to appear red, scaly, and deformed. As a parasite-type, it is capable of both invoking and acting of its own accord, such as when it destroyed Mana's Akuma or regenerated the portion of Allen's heart that was hollowed out by Tyki Mikk's Tease.
Due the unique nature of parasite-type Innocence, Allen's Innocence has undergone a series of "evolutions" based on Allen's synchronization ratio. The first and most basic form of Allen's Innocence augments his left arm into a monstrous adamantine claw with a supernatural glow at Allen's scapula-joint. At this phase, his Innocence is capable of manipulating its size and shape. Despite the magnitude of size it can achieve, it retains a phenomenal degree of speed and reaction, making it an extremely versatile anti-Akuma weapon when engaging LV1 Akuma. The next evolution of his Innocence occurred during Allen investigation of "The Ghost of Mateel". This evolution takes a more offensive approach, in the form of a massive arm-cannon. This form is capable of ranged and melee combat; a contrast to the defensive nature of his Innocence's first form. This second phase can switch between two modes, a cannon mode and a rod mode. Below is a listing of abilities Allen is capable of invoking between these two phases:
- Cross Grave (十字架ノ墓(クロス・グレイヴ), Kurosu Gureibu): At the first level of invocation, the Innocence's power can be channeled into one powerful stream, capable of crucifying and destroying multiple LV1 Akuma simultaneously.
- Cross Paling (十字架ノ杭(クロス・バリング), Kurosu Baringu): At its second phase of invocation, Allen's Innocence is capable of firing volleys of rod-shaped energy palings; these laser stakes are made of hard-light Innocence energy, which enables them to picket the ground and fence in the adversary, or to pile upon them; Allen may also stand atop the palings. This ability is often translated as "Cross Beam".
- Cross Spear (十字架ノ槍(クロス・スピアー), Kurosu Supiā)[1]: Also in its second phase of invocation, Allen is capable of focusing the barrel of his Innocence-cannon to generate a spear-like energy paling, which can then be used like a sword. This ability is often mistranslated as "Cross Blade".
God's Buffoonery: Crown Clown
Allen's synchronization ratio reached a maximum of 83% before having his Innocence destroyed by Tyki Mikk. Yet unbeknownst to Allen, the Innocence lingered around as a hazy fog of particles; at the time, a direct reflection of his shattered state of mind. It wasn't until he came to an epiphany that he was able to seize control of his anti-Akuma weapon once again and achieving his Innocence's fully-invoked form. When not activated, his arm is black with a tattoo near his shoulder and a red cross on the back of his hand. It was given its official name of Crown Clown (神ノ道化(クラウン・クラウン), Kuraun Kuraun), due to its jester-like appearance when invoked. The kanji used in the name literally translates to God's Clown (神ノ道化, Kami no Douke)
In chapter 152, Komui calls Crown Clown a body-armour innocence, able to use Allen's body as a marionette to destroy akuma even when Allen's body is no longer fully operational. Crown Clown is also able to take control of Allen's body even if Allen is capable of fighting, though the latter happens if Allen is in the way of a dangerous attack. Both forms of control are symbolized by the mask on Allen's cowl fitting itself over Allen's face. When Crown Clown is in control, it seems to be more powerful than Allen, as it easily decimated Tyki Mikk's Teez with a flick of it's cape. Allen's innocence also showed this ability during the Krory arc, but at that point all Crown Clown could do was invocate and attack. Crown Clown apparently shows some degrees of sentience during these times.
When invoked, Crown Clown drapes Allen in a long, white, ectoplasmic cowl, fitted with a masquerade-style mask. His left arm transforms into a slender, black arm fitted with silver, crown-shaped braces and rings, as well as razor-sharp talons, while his right arm and hand are encased in a sleeve and glove of the same ectoplasmic material as the cowl. The innocence can also use Allen's strength to repair itself as seen when it was severely damaged by Tyki Mikk, but managed to reform. It also becomes stronger when Allen's feelings merge with its own. This is observed when, after seeing it regenerate, Tyki Mikk feels his body beginning to die from being crushed by the Innocence's "spirit". When Allen forced his synchronization to a critical state, exceeding 100% synchronization, Crown Clown undergoes another evolution: Allen's entire left arm is transmuted into a massive zweihänder with a large cross emblazoned on the blade, with his left shoulder being capped with a cross emblem. Allen wields the sword with his free right hand and the Innocence cowl becomes a high-collared cape which covers his missing left arm, with the mask acting as a clasp across the chest. Below is a listing of Allen's abilities in between these phases of Innocence:
- Cross Grave (十字架ノ墓(クロス・グレイヴ), Kurosu Gureibu): Much more powerful than its previous incarnation, Allen crucifies and annihilates his targets by etching a cross onto them with his left hand, capable of destroying even LV3 Akuma with only a single talon. It can now also be used defensively, generating a shield by drawing a cross in the air.
- Clown Belt (道化ノ帯(クラウン・ベルト), Kuraun Beruto): The cape of Allen's cowl is released as a webbing of Innocence-energy that can be used to grasp objects, immobilize opponents, or form hardened spikes to impale enemies. It can also be released from the sleeve and glove on Allen's right arm.The webbing can also become ribbons to grasp onto railng or banisters. the ribbons were once used by Crown Clown itself to wrap around Allen's limbs and control him like a puppet when Allen was too injured to move himself.
- Crown Edge (爪ノ王輪(クラウン・エッジ)): A projectile attack which unleashes a barrage of crown-shaped rings from the clawed fingers on Allen's left hand. The kanji used in the name of this attack literally translates to "Claw of King-rings" (爪ノ王輪, Tsume no Ōwa).
- Edge End (破滅ノ爪(エッジ・エンド), Ejji Endo): A swipe of raw destructive power dealt with Allen's fully-invoked claw. The kanji used in the name of this attack literally translates to "Destruction Claw" (破滅ノ爪, Hametsu no Tsume).
- Sword of Exorcism (退魔の剣, Taima no Ken): The giant broadsword Allen's left arm transmutes into after he found out the true reason of his existent, left arm to save the akuma and the right arm help humans. Essentially, the Sword of Exorcism is an inversion of the Millennium Earl's sword, in both ability and appearance. The sword can be wielded like any other, though once invoked, the blade can exorcise evil from any vessel it strikes without any harm coming to the vessel itself if Allen chooses. Use against Akuma vanquishes them in the same effect as the Cross Grave attack, leaving a residual glowing cross crest in the awake of the defeated Akuma. However, in the case of level 4 Akuma the sword carries a diminished effect. Peculiarly enough, in the case of Noah, the Sword of Exorcism seems to unleash their powers in full rather than exorcise them.
The Cursed Eye of the Pentacle In addition to his Innocence, the Pentacle that scars his left eye curses Allen with the power to see the souls trapped inside an Akuma. The first incarnation of the curse is a black and red ringed eye which is automatically activated whenever Allen is near Akuma. Allen refers to his eye as "Mana" when it heals, evolves and a spirit is seen entering his eye.
However, during the vampire incident involving the Eliade-Akuma and Arystar Krory, Allen's curse had grown stronger, resulting in his eye undergoing some dramatic changes. Resembling a sort of cogwheel monocle, this new cursed eye enables Allen to pinpoint an Akuma's position even when they are not visible to the naked eye, regardless of obstacles, from a distance of up to 300 meters away. However, it is affected by normal human physiology; when Allen was in a room of rotting Akumas, he couldn't detect them because the virus was weakening his eye. But the most astounding change is that others close to Allen are able to see the lost souls trapped within Akuma as well. After witnessing Allen's 'world of black and white', Lavi comments that the way Allen sees the world 'is like hell on earth'. However, the cursed eye appears to lust for the destruction of Akuma, often causing pain to Allen in the middle of the night by self-activating, as though "it is a sin to be sleeping instead of destroying Akuma". The eye also seems to activate itself even when no Akuma are nearby, such as when Allen was caught in the Noah Tyki Mikk's vacuum
Allen speculates that his curse evolves in a similar fashion as Akuma, and may yet again evolve over time. It seems to have temporarily evolved again when Allen was playing the Musician's piano[2], but the scar returned to normal when he stopped playing. Perhaps this evolution is in connection to the fact that Mana - who is speculated to be the 14th Noah - gave Allen the curse and allowed him to play the nonsensical score in which both Mana and himself had come up with.
The Musician It has been strongly hinted that Allen is (connected to) the 14th Noah and in someway is "new" The Musician (depending on the translation). Cross Marian told Allen that he was the only one who could stop the download of the Akuma plant in the Ark, through the use of the room of the 14th Noah, something which, initially, only Allen and Timcampy could enter. In the glass inside the room, the same shadowy image that Allen saw in his dream of was shown.
Later, when Allen plays the piano-like instrument in the room, the destroyed Ark is regenerated and rebuilt, along with all the previous occupants who did not escape its original destruction: namely, the Exorcists who were considered as "lost" after being left behind in the crumbling rooms of the Ark. As Allen returns back to the Black Order, he notices that the letters on the music score are the letters that he and Mana had made further Mana might have been the 14th Noah. After that, Allen begins to notice the same shadowy image he saw in the 14th's room in various glass fixtures.
Interestingly enough, this shadowy image is similar to the image that Skin Bolic saw when he first awakened as a Noah, so it may be possible that this inverted image is Allen's "Inner Noah" or even the Fourteenth himself. It may also explain why the Sword of Exorcism released Tyki Mikk's powers rather than exorcise them. It is proven that Allen is qualified to awaken as "The Musician", as Lulu Bell tells her Akuma subordinate not to kill Allen, but to kidnap him; the given reason is that he is the "requirement for the player left behind by the 14th". In chapter 158 the Earl has also referred to him as an "instrument of the 14th", hinting that Allen is, while related to, probably not the 14th yet.
Yu Kanda
Kanda Yū (神田 ユウ) Seiyū: Takahiro Sakurai Kanda has long black hair (dark blue in the anime), which the mangaka notes that he uses soap to wash. At one point in the anime, Lavi braids Kanda's hair, causing himself to nearly get sliced by Mugen. He also comments that Kanda is a "pretty-type character", and Allen occasionally calls him "feminine face". However, Kanda has a harsh tongue, a foul mouth, and a cold manner, and tends to say "che" a lot. His master, General Tiedoll, calls him "an antisocial humbug."
Yu is Kanda's given name, but he dislikes being called that. He calls Allen "beansprout" (モヤシ, moyashi), because compared to him, Allen is somewhat short and of a slight build, not to mention Kanda is older. Kanda seems to know Lavi (who even calls Allen "bean sprout" for a while because Kanda does too), though he doesn't hesitate with his usual threats if Lavi calls Kanda by his given name. However, it is clear that Kanda does care for his fellow Exorcists and the Finders (whom he claims not to care about). For example, he saves Allen from an Akuma (despite his own injuries) even though he said earlier that he would not help Allen even if Allen were about to die. He also rescues Gozu, a Finder who accompanies him on several missions. He masks his emotions and often claims, "It's none of my business."
Kanda's favorite foods are soba noodles and tempura (especially pumpkin, shishitou (a small, sweet green pepper), and lotus root). Kanda dislikes many things, to the point that "there are too many to write down". However, Kanda himself points out that he hates people with naive personalities (Allen), people who don't keep their promises (Allen, who promises to protect Lala and Guzol but is severely injured during battle), cursed people (upon his first encounter with Allen), people who can't keep their mouths shut (General Tiedoll), people who call him by his given name (Lavi), and "sweet things" (as in food, especially cake and candy).
An 18-year-old Exorcist from Japan, Kanda is the first Exorcist that Allen meets at the black order HQ[3]. He can recover much faster than ordinary humans due to a mysterious tattoo above his heart (possibly the word 'Om'). Kanda seems to be able to withstand the blood of Akuma because of the tattoo. It is related to a lotus flower, sealed in an hourglass, that sits in Kanda's room and is connected to his life. It is said that when it wilts, he will die. His purpose in life is to find a person that he refers to as "that someone"; he states that the search will be hard, but until then, he will never allow himself to die. So far, the lotus flower has lost three petals, but is otherwise still robust--it still has 10 petals left. The hourglass and flower are said to be his only personal possessions. His birthday is on June 6.
Kanda is introduced into the series when the gatekeeper of the Black Order mistakenly identifies Allen as an Akuma. Kanda, the first to respond, attacks Allen and damages his left arm (Allen's anti-Akuma weapon). After questioning Allen about his arm, Kanda attacks again, only to be stopped by Lenalee. Allen then attempts to introduce himself civilly, but Kanda coldly brushes him off ("Like I'd shake the hand of someone who's cursed."). Allen later clashes with Kanda again, this time over Kanda's insensitive treatment of the Finders, and their mutual dislike grows.
To both Allen and Kanda's dismay, they are paired with each other for Allen's first mission (which is to find a piece of Innocence in Matel, Italy). When they find the Innocence serving as the heart of a living doll named Lala, Kanda wants to take the Innocence immediately, against Lala and her human companion Guzol's wishes; however, Allen objects to this idea. They argue until a level 2 Akuma appears. Allen attempts to fight it but is hindered by his Innocence, which rebounds at the last moment. However, Kanda steps in (despite his own injuries) and protects Allen, and they destroy the Akuma together. Kanda's wounds, though serious, heal in three days (to the great surprise of hospital staff), and he departs on another mission.
Kanda next appears in the company of his teammates, Noise Marie and Daisya Barry. When Daisya is killed by Tyki Mikk, Kanda and Marie continue on and find their master, General Tiedoll, who is searching for people compatible with Innocence. Together, the three of them travel to Edo to help General Cross' group fight the Millennium Earl. Kanda arrives in time to save Chaoji and Lenalee from Tyki Mikk. After the battle, when Lenalee is kidnapped by Lero, Kanda enters the Ark with Allen, Lavi, Chaoji, and Krory to save her.
Inside the ark, Kanda engages the Noah Skin Boric in a one-on-one battle, allowing the others to go ahead. After an intense fight, he defeats him, but at the cost of some of his life. Mugen is also shattered in this battle; however, it is only broken into fragments, not destroyed like Allen's was, so Kanda is able to remain as an Exorcist (later, in a comic manner, the shattered Innocence of Kanda and also Lavi are shown in burlap bags awaiting Komui's repair). However, Kanda is too late to rejoin the others, and he is "lost" as the Ark collapses. Later, when Allen restores the Ark, Kanda (along with the other "lost" exorcists) is revived.
Upon his return to the human world, Kanda is forced into the infirmary with the other Exorcists. He tries to leave, but General Tiedoll makes him stay. After a while, he is released, and he returns to his own quarters. When the level 4 Akuma attacks headquarters, Kanda protects Komui with a normal sword, since Mugen has not yet been repaired. Joined by Lavi and Allen, he fights the level 4 with everything he has, taking a lot of damage in the process, in order to save Komui, Lenalee, and Hevlaska. When Allen holds back an attack from the level 4, Kanda and Lavi both grab onto Allen's sword to help. After the battle is over, Kanda is seen sword fighting with Allen in a bet where the loser of the fight has to cut off his hair. Later, he is seen as a child, just like Lavi, due to the effects of a potion found during the Head quarter's moving process.
Kanda's anti-Akuma weapon is a black katana called "Mugen" (六幻, illusions), which turns silver when activated. He runs his index and middle finger through the back of the blade to activate it. He has shown five illusions so far:
- Kaichū: Ichigen (界蟲「一幻」, lit. First Illusion: Hell's Insects): Kanda swings his sword and releases a small swarm of supernatural creatures that devour his opponents.
- Nigentou (二幻刀, lit. Double Illusion Blades): Kanda covers his sword and scabbard in a coat of energy and generates an energy blade, creating two impossibly sharp weapons.
- Hakka Tourou (八花蟷螂, lit. Eight Flowers Praying Mantis): Using Nigentou, Kanda quickly slashes the enemy eight times. The slashes collectively resemble a flower.
- Shouka (昇華, lit. Sublimate): Kanda activates the power of his tattoo, and his pupil changes into three dots. Veins also rise around his eyes. Once Shouka is activated, Kanda can activate Sangenshiki.
- Sangenshiki (禁忌 「三幻式」, lit. Three Illusions): Kanda drastically increases his speed and strength at the cost of some of his life.
As the sword is called "Mugen" (六幻) and "六" means six, it is speculated that there will be one more attack. It could also be that the 6 in the name is added to make a phonetic misinterpretation of the name possible: Mugen written as "無限" means "infinity".
Lavi
Rabi (ラビ) Seiyū: Kenichi Suzumura A cheerful red-haired Exorcist of mixed race, who aims to become a Bookman and is working along the Black Order just to be close to the events that must be seen. To help him, he developed an incredible memory: he is able to memorize every single aspect of something he saw, but he commented (in chapter 101) that he could identify "the key" (the key which Tyki Mikk gave) faster if he were to use both his eyes when sieving out the real "key" from the fake. He is 18 years old, and normally uses his left eye while the right eye is covered by an eye-patch (no one knows what his right eye looks like, because he hasn't revealed it yet).
He enjoys giving nicknames to various characters, naming Bookman "Panda" due to the thick black circles around his eyes, a converted Akuma "Chomesuke", and Arystar "Kuro-chan" in the anime and "Kro-chan" or "Krorykins" in the manga. He is the only character other than General Tiedoll to call Kanda by his given name (that name being Yu, also translated as Yū or Yuu), and apparently speaks to him outside of missions, a fact that was shown when he called Allen "beansprout" (モヤシ, moyashi), saying that if Kanda could call him that, Lavi could as well, as he is the same age as Kanda. He has a habit of teasing Allen, and deems himself as his big brother. A recurring gag in the series is Lavi's fondness for beautiful older women, whenever he sees a woman his type (Example: Eliade, Lulubell, Chomesuke, Anita) he'll yell out "Strike!" with hearts in his eye.
It is later revealed that his name, Lavi, is just an alias (his 49th, to be exact). His real name is possibly Deak (ディック, Dikku), as revealed by a past memory of Bookman in Road's dimension, although this could equally be one of his previous 48 aliases.[4] He had cast aside his old name and background to show his commitment to being a Bookman. It was also revealed that Lavi was once cold and indifferent to others, for a Bookman only lives to view and record history and that humans are nothing more than 'ink' on a page. However, over time Lavi's personality changed and he began to truly care about others, slowly casting aside his identity as a Bookman as shown when he thought that Allen was killed by Tyki Mikk tried to avenge Allen by attempting to kill Tyki himself.
There are many different translations of his name, such as Ravi, Rabi, Labi. But found in the D.gray-man Omake from episode 61 the correct spelling is Lavi
Lavi is introduced into the series after the The Rewinding City arc alongside Bookman. He is the one that shows Allen how hard it is for "normal" Exorcists to find the Akuma. Along with Bookman, Lavi joins Allen and Lenalee to find General Cross. When Allen is separated from the group, Lavi is the one that goes back to find him. Lavi then works with Allen when they fight and later befriended a new Exorcist Arystar Krory in the The Vampire From the Old Castle arc.
He later helps Lenalee look for Allen after he's attacked by Tyki. Along with the other Exorcists, he goes to Edo to find General Cross and helps fights off the attacking Akumas. When Lenalee does not return to the ship, he gets deeply worried, so he uses his Ōzuchi Kozuchi(see below) to go look for her. When he did, instead he finds the converted Akuma Chomesuke. He, thinking she was the one that hurt Lenalee he threatened to destroy her. After he finds out the she is on their side, he is forced to apologize to her. Both him and Bookman find out that Lenalee's Innocence saved her life, which has never happened before, meaning hers is an "exception". They start to think that her Innocence might be the "Heart". After arriving in Edo the group is attack by a level 3 Akuma. Using his "Fire Seal" to get rid of two other level 3 Akuma, the now three 3 Akumas then fight each other and the group escape.
After being found by the Earl, Lavi tries to kill Tyki for what he did to Allen, but when the Earl makes the Combined Akuma, he has to help the other Exorcists destroy it, with no success however. After the group is saved by General Tiedoll's group, they are in a sense capture by the Earl's golem Lero along with Kanda. They are found by Tyki in his human form who after turning in to his Noah form gives them a key to use Roads's "door". After they use the key they run into Skin Boric. Kanda then stays behind to let the others go on. They then encounter Jasdero and David who take the key and make copies of it and then make the group find the "real" key while fighting them at the same time. Lavi has the others fight off the two Noahs and using his incredible memory finds the "real" key. Krory stay behind to fight Jasdevi and along with the others Lavi moves on. After they leave the group they run into Tyki and Road. When Tyki reveals that his Tease ate through Allen's heart, Lavi realizes that there are two "exceptions" (the other being Lenalee's). After Allen starts to fight Tyki, Lavi starts his fight with Road who uses her power to make him fight his "past".
During his fight against his past incarnation, his 'heart' (current personality) was supposedly destroyed. This caused his past incarnation, under the control of Road, to emerge in his physical body and savagely attack Allen. Unwilling to hurt Lavi, Allen attacked Road but failed to harm her, as her current body was not her true form. Lavi's current self managed to resurface and suppress his past self. He then engulfed himself in a massive Fire Seal to attack Road in the real world, while simultaneously stabbing her through the heart within her dimension, defeating her.
After the appearance of Cross Marian to their aid, Lavi's status was unknown after falling into a 'hole' made by the Millennium Earl's flashy entrance. He attempted to lengthen his Innocence to save himself, but it shattered when Allen grabbed Lavi's Innocence in an effort to pull him up. Although he was apparently lost in the 'hole' in the Ark, he was shown to have been revived along with the rest of the 'lost' Exorcists on the Ark when the Ark was restored by Allen. He is now back at Black Order HQ waiting for his Innocence to be fixed. When Lulubell and her Akuma attack the HQ, he is unable to assist Allen as he cannot activate his (shattered) hammer. Since he is unable to assist in the battle, he is put into the infirmary with Lenalee, who is also unable to help. Lavi protects Komui and Lenalee with a flag, since his hammer has not yet been repaired. Joined by Kanda and Allen, he fights the level 4 with everything he has, taking a lot of damage in the process, in order to save Komui, Lenalee, and Hevlaska. He has turned into a child just as Kanda because of a potion found during the Head quarter's moving process.
His anti-Akuma weapon is a size-shifting hammer, which he calls Ōzuchi Kozuchi (大槌小槌, lit. "big hammer small hammer") or Nyoibo. It can grow (満, ban) and extend (伸, shin) at Lavi's command. The weight increases with its size, but since Lavi is the Conformer, this weight change does not affect him. Besides using it for brute strength, Lavi can also use the hammer to summon several "judgments" by hitting elemental seals (written in Kanji) that appear around his head. His techniques, as shown so far, are as follows:
- Hi Ban: Gouka Kaijin (劫火灰燼 火判, lit. Fire Seal: Configuration of Ash): Lavi uses the Fire seal to create a torrent of flames in the form of a snake.
- Ten Ban: Raitei Kaiten (雷霆回天 天判, lit. Heaven Seal: Thundering Lightning Whirling in the Skies): Lavi uses the Heaven seal to generate a vast storm of lightning.
- Moku Ban: Tenchi Bankai (天地盤回 木判, lit. Wood Seal: Roots Entwining Heaven and Earth): Lavi uses the Wood seal to control objects in nature (i.e. the clouds).
- Konbo Ban: Gouraiten (コンボ判 剛雷天, lit. Combo Seal: Strong Thunder of the Heavens): Lavi uses both the Fire and the Heaven seals to create a huge snake of fire and iron. He can also create a shield-like flame wall.
Some of the seals have not yet been revealed and appear as question marks interspersed around the seals. This probably means that Lavi has yet to learn some seals from his Innocence. When Bookman berates him for not using the Wood seal to move the clouds, Lavi states that he had forgotten that he could use it to affect nature directly, and as he remembers, the question mark turns into the kanji for the Wood Seal. The Wood Seal can actually be seen throughout the manga whenever Lavi summons his seals (e.g. during the use of the Heaven seal), long before the use of the actual seal itself. The seals for Water and Earth can also be seen, but Lavi has not yet used them.
Lenalee Lee
Rinarī Rī (リナリー・リー) Seiyū: Itō Shizuka Komui's younger sister, and the assistant Head Officer, Lenalee is a 16-year-old Exorcist from China. Her parents were killed by an Akuma when she was very young. She feels guilty for imprisoning Komui at the Headquarters (in that he threw everything away for her sake). She explains to Allen that her perception of the "world" consists of her friends and family; whenever one of her friends dies, it seems to her as if a part of her world has been destroyed.[5] She has a strong sense of friendship, and constantly worries about her friends and gets mad at them if they overextend themselves. Although she cherishes all of her friends dearly, she appears to care deeply about Allen, in particular. In episode 75 of the anime, when Allen is reunited with her group, she is seen sharing a tearful moment with Allen while welcoming him back. At this point, the two of them seem to have a deeper and closer bond.
Because she was an Accommodator, the Black Order took her away from her only remaining family member (Komui) against her will. For three years she was never allowed to leave the Black Order headquarters, which felt like a prison to her. Because she attempted suicide, she had to be restrained and tied to her bed. However, once Komui joined the Black Order three years later, Lenalee became more at ease in the Headquarters.
It is implied during this event that Lenalee was not originally 'chosen' by her innocence, but forcefully joined. It appears that Lenalee has secretly harboured a deep hatred for the Order as a result, even though she fights for them. However, with the Level 4 threatening to kill those that she cares for, she begins to truly want to synchronize with her innocence and gain the power to protect her loved ones.
Lenalee is introduced into the series when the gatekeeper of the Black Order mistakenly identifies Allen as an Akuma stopping Kanda from killing Allen [6]. She is the one that shows Allen around the Black Order's HQ. After Allen and Kanda return from the mission she passed out from Komui's latest robot. Once she regained consciousness, she destroyed the robot.
Shortly thereafter, she traveled with Allen to "the town that does not go to a tomorrow" and found Miranda Lotto. Lenalee and Allen then help Miranda with her new job, but are all captured by Road Kamelot and her Akuma. She is at first unconscious when captured, but wakes up thank to Miranda's Innocence. She and Allen then fight Road and her Akuma. Lenalee later stops Allen when he tries to "save" the Akuma that Road ordered to self-destruct.
After the battle, when she and Allen finally recovered, they set off to find General Cross. Allen and Lavi (who were separated from the group) rejoin the group with Arystar Krory, and Lenalee welcomes her new comrade. As the group continues to look for Cross, they find Suman Dark in his Togaochi (Fallen One) form, which brings back painful memories for Lenalee. She is forced to leave Allen behind to save a little girl. With some help from Lavi she looks for Allen, but is unable to find him. She is then told that Allen is gone, and believes him dead, and she leaves on a ship for Edo in a deep depression. When the ship is attacked by a Level 3 Akuma, Lenalee leaves the ship to fight it alone.
During the battle against the Level 3 Akuma on the sea, Lenalee forced her Dark Boots to its maximum invocation to defeat the Akuma, using her ultimate technique, Shittsui no Tougi: Tetsukase (Falling Footsteps: Iron Shackles), and nearly losing her life. During this attack, Lenalee's long hair is destroyed, leaving it boyishly short. But recently, her hair appears to have grown a little longer.
When Lavi heads off the ship to search for Lenalee, who had yet to return after the attack by Akuma, he found a modified Akuma (Chomesuke/Sachiko) who held a large crystal with Lenalee encased inside. Chomesuke/Sachiko claimed that the Innocence took on this form to protect Lenalee. Because of this, it has been presumed that Lenalee's Innocence may be the "Heart", which the Earl and the Black Order are looking for. However, Lavi, after learning about how Allen's Innocence saved his life by filling in a piece of his heart, wondered why there were two "instances" and if they are related somehow.
Upon her return to the Black Order's Headquarters, Hevlaska removed the Innocence from Lenalee's legs, to find that her synchronisation rate has dropped to less than 10%. This puzzled the many members of the Order, including Hevlaska herself. When a Level 4 Akuma began assaulting the Order, Lenalee expressed a true desire to re-sync with her Innocence, which at that point truly began to express sentience. Her Innocence went to Lenalee, still in liquid form, which she drank, causing a large amount of her blood to exit her body through cross-shaped cuts on her ankles (which look similar to the cross on Allen Walker's left hand). Her blood then coalesced into a vague angelic form before spreading over her legs and taking on the form of new Dark Boots. With her new weapon, together with Allen's help, she defeated the level 4 Akuma. Lenalee's new boots were thought to be a parasitic type because they are easier to control with her emotions, noted by Lenalee herself. They seem to be very strong considering she fought on par with a level 4 akuma.
In the most recent chapters, Lenalee has begun talking like a cat (along with Bookman) due to a potion that Miranda accidentally dropped along with the things she was holding. She was a part of the group attacked by the Generals infected by Komuvitamin D. She has disappeared after the explosion caused by Komurin X.
Lenalee's Innocence is a pair of boots known as the "Dark Boots" (黒い靴). When invoked, they greatly Lenalee's speed and strength, particularly in her legs. However, according to Lenalee, the Dark Boots are always heavy and painful to wear. Before the Dark Boots are invoked, they resemble a pair of thigh-high boots; when invoked, the top part of her boots seem to unwrap themselves; the boots extend to her knees, and a glowing green strip manifests on her skin, from the toes to the middle of the thigh. She has displayed several techniques so far:
- Onkyou no Tougi: Otokase (音響の踏技 「音枷」, lit. Stepping Skill of Sound: "Sound Shackles"): Lenalee becomes able to interface with sound waves, solidifying the sound of each step into a surface, which allows her to travel at the speed of sound.
- Suijou no Tougi: Mizukase (水上の踏技 「水枷」, lit. Stepping Skill of Water: "Water Shackles"): Lenalee becomes able to interface with water, enabling her to walk on liquid surfaces.
- Enbu Kirikaze (円舞「霧風」, Waltz: "Mist-Wind"): Lenalee stirs up a destructive tornado with a whirling kick of her Dark Boots.
- Shittsui no Tougi: Tetsukase (失墜の踏技 「鉄枷」, lit. Falling Footwork: "Iron Shackles"): Upon maximum invocation, Lenalee's power condenses unto her Dark Boots, meshing them into a morass of blades, carrying an oppressive weight.
Due to her battle with the level 3 Akuma she lost her Dark Boots after pushing them to their limits. In a strange twist of fate, Lenalee's legs lost much of their mobility and even the time reversing effects of Miranda's Time Record Innocence couldn't do anything about it.
Later, it was implied that Lenalee's Innocence was somehow evolving from an equipment-type into a parasitic-type (a previously unheard-of event), and her synch-rate had dropped to 10% (or less). Her innocence was extracted by Hevlaska, who warned Lenalee that she could die if she attempted to activate her Innocence again at such a low synch-rate. Upon its removal, she regained full use of her legs, and even remarked that her legs felt light without the Dark Boots attached to them. However, Lenalee suggested that she should forcefully activate her Innocence so that she can continue fighting with her comrades, something that Rouvelier had decided to do despite Lenalee's weakened condition and the other risks involved.
Lenalee's new boots take the appearance of high heels, and are able to react to Lenalee's emotions, making them easier to handle. The boots themselves are quite powerful, able to stand up to a level 4 Akuma, considering Lenalee hadn't even used them for a rather extended period of time. When the boots are not in battle or use, they become a pair of red rings around the cross-shaped scars on Lenalee's legs. This makes the Innocence's type something of an enigma; while they bear a striking resemblance to an equipment-type, they have many of the characteristics of a parasitic-type, mainly their biological appearance, make-up and behavior.
However, in recent chapters, it has been revealed that her innocence is in fact, not parasitic type. Parasitic types change the cellular makeup of the exorcist's body. For example, Allen's arm is no longer made up of human cells. Lenalee's innocence is supposedly a new evolution of an equipment type. Komui has dubbed this new evolution "Crystal type". It is different from an equipment type because it doesn't rely upon a weapon manufactured by the Order. It is actually made of the exorcist's blood, thus making it far more powerful than a normal equipment type. It is unknown whether or not it is more powerful than a parasitic type, or if it'll shorten one's lifespan.
Bookman
Bukkuman (ブックマン) Seiyū: Aono Takeshi
An old man who records the hidden history of the world. He comes from the Bookman clan and doesn't have a name, but simply introducing himself as "Bookman" during his first meeting with Allen. He and Lavi appeared at the same time. He refers to Allen as "The Destroyer of Time" according to Hevlaska's prophecy, as he believes that Allen is the only one who can defeat the Earl of Millennium. Bookman also mentions that a "Bookman" does not put himself in the frontline and he allies himself with the Black Order merely to be close to events that must be witnessed and recorded.
His anti-Akuma weapon is called Heaven Compass (天針), which is a set of acupuncture needles. In addition to Bookman's own skill in healing people through acupuncture, they also allow him to use the following techniques:
- Compass Needles: North Crime (呪縛の針 「北ノ罪」): An attacking ability, which impales the target with thousands of needles;
- Accursed Needles: East Crime" (加護の針 「東ノ罪」): A defensive ability, which makes the needles encircle the target and protect it against external attacks.
Miranda Lotto
Miranda Rottō (ミランダ・ロットー) Seiyū: Toyoguchi Megumi
A woman whose clock caused time to rewind in her town, which started when she was able to connect to the Innocence within the clock. She is German, and twenty-five years old. She often feels inferior and useless, which caused her to be fired from all one hundred jobs she tried to work in. This contributes to her chronic depression. With the help of Allen and Lenalee, she became determined to be a useful Exorcist.
Her weapon is a disk called "Time Record" (刻盤), located on her right arm. When activated, it appears from her right arm and "slides" to her wrist. The disk has two green, glowing circles, with circles orbiting the center. With it, she can use the following techniques:
- Time Recovery (時間回復): This sets up a time zone where anything on it will recover and heal automatically. When invoked, a giant clock face appears above the zone being affected; however, if damage is made to this clock face, Miranda will feel pain. This power is only temporary; once Miranda stops her power, all damage suffered earlier will return, as well as those suffered during the time that she used her Innocence. It cannot bring the dead back to life, nor did it have enough power to stop the download of the white ark. However, it was able to bring back the Akuma producing plant even after Lulu Bell had stolen it, although it was later said that Miranda's innocence couldn't erase time, only reverse it.
- Time Out (時間停止): A defensive technique, which create a space where the time stops, negating any attack that comes into that.
She replaced Allen during their search for General Cross in Japan after he lost his Innocence in meeting Tyki Mikk. Miranda is the only Exorcist that controls a non-offensive anti-Akuma weapon, and often uses it even after she reaches her limit, but she still insists on keeping it active, implying that she can't let people suffer or die. Later, during the invasion of the Headquarters, she managed to temporarily prevent Lulu Bell from reclaiming the akuma egg, and bought her comrades enough time to destroy it. She was nearly killed by Lulu Bell for getting in the way, but she was saved by Allen.
Once the Level 4 akuma was killed by Cross, Lenalee and Allen, Miranda can be seen using her innocence to shield the survivors of the Fifth Lab, including Reever.
She is currently infected with the Komuinvitamin D Virus.
The name of the character is inspired by the actress Miranda Otto.
Arystar Krory
Areisutā Kurōrī (アレイスター・クロウリー) Seiyū: Iwata Mitsuo Instead of using the name of the infamous Aleister Crowley, Katsura Hoshino used a similar name and used the actor/singer Yūsuke Santamaria as a model [7], thus creating the character Arystar Krory III. He is a Romanian with split personalities: a soft, kind, and overly-emotional "normal" side, and an aggressive, cocky, "battle-mode" side. The dominant personality is easily distinguished by his facial appearance. When 'normal', his long strand of white hair hangs down in his face. In addition, his appearance is kind and somewhat down-cast, and his voice is soft and low. When he enters his "battle-mode", the white strand of hair on stands up. Additionally, the whites of his eyes turn black and veins protrude from his face, making him look like a monster. He also talks loudly and aggressively when battling.
For his entire life, Krory lived in a secluded castle. Because of the way he attacked villagers, drinking their blood and then carrying them off, and because of his stereotypical vampire theme, he was believed to be a vampire by the surrounding villagers and shunned. The true reason for this behavior was his teeth, made of Innocence, that caused him to instinctively attack Akuma, though the villagers and Krory (before meeting Allen and Lavi) did not know this. Later, he fell in love with a woman named Eliade, unaware of the fact that she was actually an Akuma. After Allen and Lavi come across the village and their "vampire problem" during their search for Cross, they realize that Krory has innocence, and recruit him as an Exorcist. It was around this time Lavi dubbed him "Kuro-chan" or "Krorykins", despite the fact he dislikes being called so.[8] Krory is still getting used to the "outside world."
He first appeared in Chapter 31 when Allen and Lavi are recruited into "vampire hunting" for a village. After Krory takes another victim, Lavi and Allen follow him into the castle. It turns out that Krory has been living alone in his grandfather's castle with Eliade, the woman he loved, and does not wish to be a vampire. After Eliade discovers the two Exorcists, she tells Krory about them. Meanwhile, the Lavi and Allen dig up the bodies of the villagers he attacked, discovering they are the bodies of Akuma. They speculate Krory may be instinctively attacking Akuma because of Innocence. However, Krory appears to confront Lavi and Allen. Lavi explains Krory's situation with the Innocence. Meanwhile, Allen discovers Eliade is a level 2 Akuma. Later, Krory discovers this too and regretfully kills her. After an attempted suicide, he decides to become an Exorcist as an excuse for killing Eliade.
After being thrown out of the village, he accompanies Allen and Lavi on their search for General Cross. He comes across a bunch of vagabonds, one of whom is the Noah Tyki Mikk and is suckered into playing poker with them. After losing all his possessions, he is saved by Allen, who turns the tables through cheating.
The three meet up with Bookman and Lenalee and travel to China and take a ship to Edo. Krory is one of the Exorcists who try to protect the ship from the Akuma and level 3 attack out at sea. He is also one of the Exorcists who chases after Lenalee and into the Ark when she's kidnapped by Lero. Inside the study room, he's the only one who can pinpoint the Noah Twins Jasdevi's location in spite of the fact he cannot see them and directs Allen in capturing them. He later tells the rest of the group to go on ahead, he'll take care of them. In the battle, Krory goes up against the merged Jasdevi and seems to be defeated, having been locked in an Iron Maiden. But he uses a new technique, Bloody Krory, to defeat the Noah. Although he defeated them and managed his way out of the Iron Maiden, he passes out as the room collapses. Later, he is revived with the other "lost" Exorcists when Allen restores the Ark. However, he had not regained consciousness immediately after and was seen being attended to at the Black Order Headquarters by the Head Matron during Lulu Bell's assault and the level 4 attack on the building. He recently woke up but was chained to the bed he was in and a young lady was inside the room. She has possibly poisoned him as seen in Chapter 159 where a bottle with skull and cross-bones dropped onto the floor. After Allen fainted, he had a "dream" that Krory was in great agony. Although shortly after, Krory is supposedly knocking on the door of the storage room Allen, Lavi, Kanda, and Johnny are hiding in.
Krory received his Innocence from a plant Cross Marian gave to him. The plant bit Krory afterwards. After agonizing pain, his teeth fell out and were replaced by his parasitic form of Innocence. The strength of his Innocence lies in his blood, allowing him to manipulate the blood in his body and, to an extent, others' bodies. When invoked, it grants him feral-type abilities and enhanced overall strength, such as increased strength, speed, and agility. And because the Innocence allows him to break down Akuma poison, Krory can drink the Akuma's blood, which he comments tastes like tomato juice. The blood allows him to quickly regenerate and temporarily increase his strength. But he is not immune to the poison, as seen in his fight with Jasdevi on the Ark, when his body is too weak to break down the poison. Krory is also able to remove the poison from another person by drinking their blood. On the other hand, he can also inject his blood, laced with Innocence, into the Akuma by biting them. Although this kills them in seconds, it also weakens him. Krory has dubbed this ability "Crimson" (紅), because the Akuma disintegrates into tiny red particles, which Miranda likened to "crimson snow". He is also capable of wrapping blood around his hands to fortify the flesh beneath. In addition, Krory can drain the blood from his body and wield his maximum strength remotely as an almost invulnerable, winged blood mannequin called "Bloody Krory" (血のクロウリー), which is also seen during the height of his battle with Jasdevi. However, after using this technique he becomes so exhausted he cannot stand or move. But this may have occurred due to his imprisonment in an Iron Maiden.
In chapter 160, it shows he (Probably) woke up, though the scene suggests it was in his head. Recently, after Allen faints, his "dream" shows Krory in great agony, though a few pages after, "Krory" knocks on the door of the storage room Allen, Lavi, Kanda and Johnny are hiding in. It's being suggested that Krory is the cause of the virus, though presumably indirectly. In the first scene of chapter 160, a blond girl appeared with him, and she has appeared once or twice afterwards, so she, at least, wasn't in Krory's head.
Chakar Rabon
Chākā Rabon (チャーカー・ラボン)
One of the Exorcists in General Winters Sokaro's team who was killed by Tyki Mikk. In volume 5, Suman had a nightmare about seeing Kazana and his corpses. His anti-Akuma weapon was a cross-bow. In the anime though it is shown his weapon was capable of shooting out bolts of lightning towards the enemy.
Daisya Barry
Deisha Barī (デイシャ・バリー) Seiyū: Yanaka Hiroshi A cheerful Exorcist from Bodrum, and (in the anime) a fan of Football (soccer), who ran away from his family's souvenir shop in search of adventure. He was a disciple of Tiedoll and was on his rescue team along with Yu Kanda and Noise Marie; despite his love of playing pranks on the other members of the Order (for example, using his Innocence to crack Tiedoll's glasses), he was described by Tiedoll as "a good kid." His Exorcist outfit features a pointed cowl with a bell on the end, similar to the coxcomb of a medieval jester; the bell (originally the one he adored from the door of his shop) becomes his anti-Akuma weapon, a projectile called the Charity Bell (隣人ノ鐘). This weapon, wielded much like a Football, can break through multiple Akuma and causes any it hits to resonate (like larger bells) until they explode.
While on his mission to find General Tiedoll, he encountered Tyki Mikk and was found the next morning hung in an upside-down cross fashion from a streetlamp, missing an internal organ and the Charity Bell. In the anime, he said he had not wasted his life, just before Tyki killed him. After learning about Daisya's death, Tiedoll mourns him, and he wishes Daisya to rest in peace. Daisya's birthday is October 31.
Gwen Frere
Guen Furēru (グエン・フレール)
One of the Exorcists in General Klaud Nine's team, now deceased. Not much is known about her as she was never seen.
Hevlaska
Heburasuka (ヘブラスカ) Seiyū: Kaida Yūko
Hevlaska, also called Guardian of the Innocence, is an Exorcist who has a major role in Black Order, being a part of the Organization since its very beginning. Hevlaska has its body completely enveloped by its Innocence that seems to be indefinitely active. Its abilities consist of merging some tentacles of its body into other Exorcists' bodies and Innocences. This way, it can know their nature—even if an Innocence is the Heart—abilities, synchronization percentage and hidden potential. Its personality is calm and gentle, almost maternal (which can suggest Hevlaska is actually a woman, which is later revealed as true when Komui states Hevlaska's gender to Allen. In episode 6 of the anime, Lenalee says that Hevlaska is female). The name "Hebraska" is used in VIZ media's English translations for volumes one and two. Allusions are made that the Innocence it carries is actually the Innocence Cube. When Allen's Innocence achieved 'critical point', Hevlaska could feel his power, as all the Innocence cubes inside her body were resonating (painfully at that). It was Hevlaska that stated that a new 'General' was being born. In the latest manga, Hevlaska is seen telling Komui to take the Innocence to the Asian Branch as she wishes to sacrifice herself to protect everyone else from the immensely powerful Level 4 Akuma. However, Malcom C. Rouvelier has other ideas. As she is about to synchronize the Dark Boots with Lenalee, she is attacked by the Level 4.
When Hevlaska protested to Rouvelier's insistence on synching Lenalee with her Innocence, Rouvelier intimidated her with references to a time in the past. It seems that Rouvelier even loomed over Hevlaska as a child, calling her a blood murderer. It is possible that Hevlaska was involved in murder of her family, or that her family offered her up as God's sacrifice.
Kazana Reed
A member of Winter Sokaro's team. He, along with Chakar Rabon, was killed by Tyki Mikk. In the anime, it was shown that his Anti-Akuma Weapon was a sword which once activated grew up to several times its normal size, although the additional weight does not appear to affect him, much like Lavi's Innocence.
Noise Marie
Noizu Mari (ノイズ・マリ) Seiyū: Yanada Kiyoyuki
One of the Exorcists from Tiedoll's group. Noise Marie seems to be a tough, silent man. His innocence, "Noel Organon" (聖人ノ詩篇), gives him an incredibly strong hearing, allowing Marie to hear very low or very distant sounds. It can also be used in an offensive form in the technique called "Verse of the Saint" (嘆きの旋律) which forms strings used to capture a victim and conduct a music that can paralyze easily even the stronger Akuma like a very strong poison.
Sol Galen
Soru Garen (ソル・ガレン)
One of the Exorcists in General Klaud Nine's team, deceased. Not much information is known about him/her. He/She was never seen.
Suman Dark
Sūman Dāku (スーマン・ダーク) Seiyū: Gôda Hozumi
An Exorcist who joined the order so he could pay for his daughter's medical fees. He, like Allen, has a parasite-type anti-Akuma weapon, which takes the form of a gem-like stone near his thumb. After five years in the Organization, he was sent on a mission to find General Winters Sokaro. During the mission, in India, his team was attacked and destroyed by Tyki Mikk. Suman, who loved his daughter so dearly, refused to die and leave her, to which end he offered to do anything for Tyki Mikk in exchange for his life. Hence, Tyki Mikk asked for the conditions and the whereabouts of all the Exorcists and the Search Group; this resulted in the death of 142 members of the Search Group and 6 Exorcists. He fled from the battle field, begged evil to spare his life, and betrayed his Innocence, thus betraying God. For that he was judged by his Innocence and became a Togaochi (Fallen One). This caused the Innocence to constantly deteriorate his body. After becoming a Togaochi, Allen separated Suman's Innocence from him which reverted his Togaochi condition. Although Allen managed to save Suman's life, Suman's mind, however, died. Not long after he reverted from his Togaochi condition, he was killed by Tyki Mikk using Tease (a flesh-eating type of golem in the form of a butterfly). In the anime, it was shown that his Innocence had the ability to manipulate the wind, using a gauntlet on his right arm. He has two wind techniques, "Break Wind" and "Break Storm", which both techniques can basically use the power of the wind to dismantle and utterly destroy Akuma instantly, including level 2's, which he did do so in the anime.
His Innocence is currently in the possession of Timcampy, and it is unknown whether someone else is capable of wielding it.
Tina Spark
Tina Supāku (ティナ・スパーク)
One of the Exorcists in General Klaud Nine's team, all of whom were killed. Not much information is known about her as she was never seen.
Chaoji Han
Chaojī (チャオジー) Seiyū: Miyano Mamoru
One of three surviving crew members of Anita, Chaoji was seen reacting with Innocence, which was sent into the ark by Tiedoll when Lenalee fell into the Ark, and so was able to become an Exorcist. Being extremely loyal to Anita and her crew, he developed an extreme hatred of all Noah and Akuma after their deaths, going so far as to accuse Allen of being evil for sparing the life of the Noah Tyki Mikk. Chaoji's Innocence, as of now still unnamed, appears as a pair of linked bracelets on his left wrist. The only power it has shown so far is to grant him superhuman strength on that arm, allowing him to pull Allen, Lavi and Kanda all of out a bottomless pit in the Ark they nearly fell into with one pull, sending the three Exorcists flying. Chaoji decided to become an Exorcist, under the instruction of Tiedoll, and has stated that he will become part of the Black Order.
After Lulubell attacked the Black Order HQ, he wanted to assist in fighting the Akuma, but he was told that he is not ready yet due to a lack of training and the fact his anti-Akuma weapon wasn't ready.
Generals
Generals are immensely powerful Exorcists whose synchronization rate with their Innocence has exceeded 100%. Of the original five Generals, one is dead, and the other four have returned to the Black Order headquarters.
Allen Walker has also achieved an over-100% synchronization rate with his Innocence (known as reaching the Critical Point), implying that he might eventually become a General.
As of chapter 161, every General, excluding Cross, has been infected with a virus that turns them into zombies. Oddly, unlike the others who were bitten, like Chaoji and Miranda, who became senseless, the Generals seem to retain their basic personalities, recall the names of the Exorcists and even use their respect Innocence (comically, however, since they were all infected while bathing, they are shown wearing only towels).
Cross Marian
Kurosu Marian (クロス・マリアン) Seiyū: Hiroki Touchi -+ Cross Marian is Allen's teacher, a sorcerer and scientist. His most distinguishing features are his long, vibrant red hair and a Phantom of the Opera-esque mask on the right side of his face. In the manga, when Allen is rescued by him, he is seen to be wearing a skull, after which the skull shrinks back to a cross over his right eye, possibly due to a curse. He is shown to be a gruff, demanding individual who is hard to please. He also has a habit of going into debt and making Allen (as well as anyone working under him or looking for him for that matter) work it off for him, and appears to be popular with women, with some characters calling him a 'womaniser'. It is revealed by Bookman that Cross has the unique ability to convert Akuma, making them work under his orders. The method of conversion is unknown, though it is most likely the power of the " Grave of Maria", which has been shown to control other characters in the series. Marian seems to be the only person the Earl is seriously worried about, a worry justified by the fact that Cross was able to slow down the download of the Akuma plant aboard the Ark. Cross has stated that he only lets clean people near him and can't stand filth, except if the dirty person is a gorgeous woman.
He left on a journey and stopped corresponding with HQ for four years. Allen fears him, which is hinted from the fact most of his flashbacks that connect to his teacher end with some kind of traumatizing (usually humorous) experience. It is implied that Cross and the Earl have met/fought a number of times in the past when the Earl saved Tyki from Cross and Cross's reply was "making a flashy entrance as always, fatso". It is known that before the 14th Noah's death, he and Cross knew each other, given Cross' extensive knowledge of the 14th.
He made his first real appearance saving his team from Tyki's new form on board the Ark, and then helps them restore the Ark. Although he tried to escape being sent back to the Black Order HQ, Lenalee's pleading for him to come breaks his resolve and he returns to HQ along with the rest of the Cross team and Tiedoll team of Exorcists. He is given a 'desk job' after returning, effectively a form of imprisonment. He later appears with the other generals to fight off Lulubell and her army of Lvl 3 Akuma. They succeed in destroying the Akuma and causing damage to the Akuma Plant. However, Cross is incapacitated along with the rest of the generals by the newly born Lvl 4 Akuma. Later, he disabled the Level 4 Akuma using Carte Garde and emerged from the rubble, injured but defiant. He then demonstrated that his strength is more than capable of standing against the Level Four Akuma alone, overwhelming it with fire from Judgement and forcing it to flee but still be destroyed.
It has been shown that Cross Marian wields two anti-Akuma weapons. While other Exorcists Generals have been known to carry multiple Innocence shards, Cross is the first to display the ability to use more than one Innocence shard at the same time. His skill with his Innocence is great as he was able to take down Tyki Mikk's transformed state without much trouble, while Allen couldn't so much as land a wounding strike.
- Judgement (断罪者): This equipment-type Innocence takes the form of a large caliber revolver with an undermounted barrel. Cross is able to fire several bullets in rapid succession, often emptying his rounds in a split-second. These bullets will not cease until they hit their target. A symbol in form of a cross can be seen wherever these bullets hit (even on barriers). Cross has also shown an attack ability called 'Arrow Of Original Sin' (原罪の矢), which forms the shape of a demon-like bow around Judgement as a cross symbol appears in front of it. This ability was used by Cross to attack the Akuma Plant. Recently, Cross has shown the ability to use Judgement at a "purging level," which allows him to launch a large, devastating attack with a cross symbol on it similar to the crosses made by his regular bullets
- Grave of Maria (聖母ノ柩): This parasitic-type Innocence doesn't belong to General Cross himself, but to Maria, an Exorcist with a parasite type innocence. It has been remarked by Allen that Cross is able to use magic to control Maria's corpse during a fight therefore allowing him to also use her Innocence. It takes the form of a large, flattened coffin wrapped with a long chain. When the chain is removed, the coffin opens to reveal a beautiful woman in a fancy dress with a large bow tied over her eyes, which makes it slightly reminiscent of a butterfly. This 'woman' is in fact the corpse of Maria. With the defensive ability 'Magdala Curtain' (聖母ノ加護), Maria uses her song to create illusions that can conceal the presence of others. She also has another ability called "Carte Garde" which allows her (or Cross) to control the person's movements by affecting the brain. Lavi has pointed out that Cross Marian's use of the "Grave of Maria" anti-Akuma weapon is unorthodox and forbidden.
Froi Tiedoll
Furowa Tiedōru (フロワ・ティエドール) Seiyū: Hashi Takaya
Tiedoll seems to be a very normal man behind his glasses, with artistic talents and a sensible side. He is very loyal to his work, and he refuses the order to go back to the Black Order's main base. He is kindly, as he cries when one of his apprentices, Daisya Barry, is killed in action, and wishes him to rest in peace. He also treats his apprentices--Yu Kanda, Noise Marie, and Barry--as his own children. Chaoji, Tiedoll's newest apprentice, states at one point that Tiedoll seems kind of strange but kind of cool as well and that he looks forward to being his student.
Tiedoll's Innocence is called the "Maker of Eden".It has 2 attacks, one defensive and one offensive.
Art: Tiedoll draws a crucifix and a rod he carries, in which the rod creates a spiritual chisel, the rod the links the crucifix and itself together. He then uses the crucifix to knock the chisel into the ground, creating a cloud of dust that spawns the Maker of Eden. He also can summon more than 1 of the creature.
Tiedoll's team meets up with and travels with him after General Yeegar's death, assisting him in his quest to find new Exorcists. Tiedoll eventually returns to the Black Order's Headquarters to attend a meeting with the other generals. When the Level 4 Akuma attacks the headquarters, he protects the wounded scientists while the other generals mount an attack.
The spelling of his surname is often transliterated as "Theodore"; however, according to Hoshino, his name is officially "Tiedoll" (Volume 6).
Kevin Yeegar
Kebin Yēgā (ケビン・イェーガー) Seiyū: Kawakubo Kiyoshi
The oldest of the five Generals, Yeegar is also a hero who puts himself on the frontlines for the first battles. According to Komui and others, he is very strict when it comes to manners and speech, however, he is a very kind person. In the anime, he is disappointed when he didn't get to Belgium quick enough to recover the innocence, which caused one casualty. He also is fond of cooking, shown when he was happy to make more food for Allen Walker after Allen had heartily ate much of the food Yeegar prepared for himself, Allen, and the finders. Yeegar is the first General to be targeted by the Noah and defeated, mutilated, and, in the manga, crucified backwards on a cross by Tyki Mikk, who also steals and destroys his Innocence. Yeegar goes insane after the fight and rambles on about "the Heart" (the Heart of all Innocence) and how the Earl is searching for it; he dies not long after due to his injuries. He would not let his finders stay when he was attacked by Tyki Mikk and Road Kamelot, he created an opening for them and demanded they flee the scene.
In the manga, Yeegar is unknown to readers until Komui informs Allen, Lavi, and Lenalee about his death, and not much information is revealed about him. He was holding 7 innocence, plus his own, The Millennium Earl destroyed 8 pieces of innocence here. In the anime, Yeegar's anti-Akuma weapon is a pair of chained pendulums that can split into multiple pendulums, allowing him to attack multiple Akuma at once.
According to the anime, Yeegar worked as a teacher before becoming an Exorcist. When one of his students died, the student's friend turned her into Akuma that killed all of her classmates. The Akuma was later destroyed by an Exorcist that used a bow as an anti-Akuma weapon. The Exorcist told Yeegar about the Black Order, and Yeegar became an Exorcist (and eventually a General).
Klaud Nine
Kuraudo Nain (クラウド・ナイン) Seiyū: Katsuki Masako
Klaud is the only female Exorcist general. One half of her face is covered by hair, and the other side has burn scars (although in both the second and fourth opening themes and in one scene of the anime, the burn scars do not appear as visible as it does in the manga, appearing as slightly lighter in skin tone on her face). She seems to be a gentle woman, as she is seen weeping for her deceased team.
After her Exorcist team (consisting of Tina Spark, Gwen Frere, and Sol Galen) is eliminated by Tyki Mikk, Cloud returns to the Black Order headquarters in order to meet with the other generals. Later, she is seen drinking wine with fellow general Cross Marian. Though she asks him why he chose her as a drinking partner, she does not seem entirely unwilling. When the Noah, Lulubell, attacks the headquarters, she teams up with Cross, Sokaro, Tiedoll, and Allen to mount a counterattack.
Klaud's Innocence is a little monkey that rides on her shoulder. This Parasitic-type Innocence, called Lau Jimin, is the first sentient Innocence shown in the series. When activated, the monkey transforms into a monster that attacks with balls of energy that form at its fists. Lau Jimin can also convert into a long-range mode, the effects of which have not been clearly demonstrated. The whip that Klaud holds is possibly an Equipment-type Innocence.
Winters Sokaro
Wintāzu Sokaro (ウィンターズ・ソカロ) Seiyū: Wakamoto Norio
Sokaro is a harsh man who wears a hard leather (almost metal-like) mask over his head. Unlike the other generals, he seems to have little regard for his Exorcist team (consisting of Kazana Reed, Chakar Rabon, and Suman Dark, all of whom are eventually killed by Tyki Mikk).
Sokaro first appears alongside Klaud Nine before the coffins of their respective team members. While Cloud weeps, Sokaro insults his team, calling them "a bunch of loser dogs". Whether this was really out of disrespect, or a form of denial and/or grief is unknown. It could also be taken as a metaphor. Later, when the Level 4 Akuma attacks the Black Order headquarters, he counterattacks with his fellow generals. He viciously rips apart several Akuma and revels in the bloodbath that they spawn.
Sokaro's innocence is called Madness (神狂い) and is an Equipment-type Innocence. When not invoked, it appears as two spiked half-rings attached to Sokaro's shoulders. When Socalo invokes his Innocence, he slides the rings down his arms and claps his hands together, creating a complete circle. When the circle is complete, two enormous blades materialize on either side of the ring. Sokaro uses Madness as a powerful, close-combat Anti-Akuma weapon, usually by spinning the blades at high speed, creating a massive buzz saw. He can also use his Innocence in an attack technique, called Madness Dederupa (神狂い 火葬舞, lit. Cremation Dance), in which he spins the blades at a very high speed (causing them to be superheated) and throws them at his enemies, melting and slicing them. He relishes the fight and displays extreme bloodlust during battle.
VIZ Romanizes his surname as "Zokalo" in volume five, but changes it to "Sokaro" in volume six. For unknown reasons, VIZ reverts back to "Zokalo" in volume seven.
Headquarters
Buzz
Bazu (バズ) Seiyū: Sonobe Yoshinori
A Finder that is stationed at Headquarters. He and other Finders were performing a memorial service to their fallen comrades, right behind where Kanda was eating. When Kanda expressed his loss of appetite, Buzz demanded an apology. However, Kanda beat him up and began strangling him. Allen then stepped in to stop the whole charade. He is a tall, burly man with many markings on his face and a bald head. Despite his appearance, he appears to be sensitive about his fallen colleagues. He appeared in the Leaf of Revival arc.
Jerry
Jerī (ジェリー) Seiyū: Takuma Suzuki
The Head Cook of the Black Order. He is Indian, and of unknown age; "Jerry" is just his nickname. He knows Muay Thai, Thai-style kickboxing, and growing up, he knew he would inherit his family's dojo from his father, but Jerry never wanted it. He wandered through various countries instead. Although male, he is very motherly, which he discovered, along with his ability to cook, in China. When first introduced, the mangaka put a male symbol next to his name to make sure readers knew that he was a man. In a two-page omake of various characters that, under various circumstances, come to work for Jerry, Arystar Krory is shown with a text bubble that states "Asked Jerry if he was gay" under his head.[9] He is stated to be Komui's best friend, and he gets along well with Lenalee.
Jerry's height is stated to be 192 centimeters; his blood type is O; he was born on November 7th and is a Scorpio.
Johnny Gill
Jonī (ジョニー) Seiyū: Tsuboi Tomohiro
Johnny is one of the seemingly younger members of the Science Department. He is often identified by the black skull on his shirt and his big glasses. He was one of Suman's friends; he was the only one who knew that Suman was lonely. Because their rooms were so close together, they would often play chess together, in which Johnny would win most of the time. Whenever Suman would lose, he would ignore Johnny the next time they met in the cafeteria but always asked Johnny to a game whenever he returned from missions. When he found out that Suman was dying, his face became dominated by tears and heartbroken sorrow. The manga also highlighted his presence in panels, making this particular scene one of the more emotional scenes of the series. After Allen returns with the Ark, Johnny defends him against the accusations that he is a traitor working for the Noah. A short time later, Johnny is impaled through the chest by the Noah Lulubell, disguised as Andrew Nansen, as her Akuma forces invade the Black Order HQ. He is later thrown by the Skull Tapp Dopp and is finally attacked by an Akuma. However, Johnny is saved before the Akuma could eat him, and he begs Allen to save everyone. Johnny disappears, along with Bak, Reever, the Generals, the scientists, Miranda, and Marie, when the level 4 Akuma destroys the fifth laboratory. He is later shown to be alive and in stable condition. He pleads and weeps over the Skull Tapp. When Tapp dies, Johnny is in tears.
Komui Lee
Komui Rī (コムイ・リー) Seiyū: Konishi Katsuyuki
Komui Lee is the Supervisor of the Black Order, and Lenalee's older brother. He is Chinese and about 29 years old. His parents were killed by Akuma when they were young, and when it was found out that Lenalee was compatible with an Innocence she was taken away from him. It was shown that Lenalee was kept in the Black Order, away from her only living family (Komui), against her will. When she tried to run away, she had to be strapped down to the bed. However, Komui joined the Order and became the Science Department Supervisor for her sake and Lenalee began to feel more at home in the Order.
Komui is shown as a very whimsical and goofy character, he is somewhat sadistic and borderline maniacal sometimes ("Why did Komui end up so strange...? I patterned this character after Yoshida. My editor."—Quote from Vol 1, Komui's profile page). He drinks coffee nonstop (or more specifically Lenalee's coffee unless he has no choice), is lazy and often tries to worm his way out of doing work by either running away from the office (Reever has to track him down), talking on the phone non-stop even when the other side hung up or other methods (he created a robot named Komurin II that went berserk and nearly tore the Headquarter apart). He keeps a notoriously messy desk and lost Allen's letter of recommendation from General Cross when Allen first joined the Order, which led the Order into believing that Allen was an intruder. In the manga when it was asked how much do his colleagues trust Komui, the mangaka answered that it was 99% trust and 1% murderous intent. During his naps, one of the only ways to wake him up is to say that Lenalee is getting married due to his doting personality. An odd reoccuring theme throughout the series is a small rabbit on his coffee cup, the same rabbit which is seen near the beginning of the series in a costume, and as small flying death blades made by Komui.
Komui, despite everything, does have a serious side. He feels guilty for throwing the Exorcists and Finders into danger, and tries to help in anyway he can, such as making better uniforms to protect the Exorcists. He is also the one to repair damages done to the Innocences of the Exorcists although the method seems very painful. He showed a more solemn and ruthless side in the funeral for the Exorcists and Finders by refusing requests to bring General Yeegar's body back to his home and saying that the General's body must be cremated. Firm in his beliefs, Komui has shown a daring side in refusing to follow Special Auditor Malcom Rouvelier's orders about keeping the Akuma Egg, and instead issues his own orders for the Egg's destruction.
Lenalee and Komui seem to share some kind of telepathic link, shown when Komui collapsed when Lenalee was being drowned by Eshi and that Lenalee can tell when Komui is taking a nap even from the other side of the world. He seems to be close friends with the cook Jerry and often hides out in the kitchen.
Komui is currently guilty of a spread of zombie virus in the HQ, via his invention of the komuvitaminD which turns people into overtime zombies. His latest invention, Komurin Ex, is seemingly protective of its owner ( it engulfs Howard Link's notebook when he issued a letter of complaint to the Inspector, and is seen crying when "it could'nt save its master"). Komui's location is currently unknown after the explosion he created in the HQ.
Reever Wenhamm
Rībā Wenhamu (リーバー・ウェンハム) Seiyū: Okiayu Ryōtarō
In charge of the Science department of the Black Order, therefore he is technically the "boss" of the science department, but still carries out Komui's orders (though he does protest). He is Australian, and 26 years old. He is a rather comical character, being the main helper of Komui, and is often distressed over the fact that he works under such a weird man. His character was included in the game Jump Superstars. His name was translated to Riba in volumes one and two of the English manga. Reever dislikes tobacco and alcohol, instead drinking various soft drinks; he specializes in mathematics, physics and language. He's also extremely protective of his coworkers and comrades. In chapter 44, Reever severely scolds a group of finders who begin fearing for their lives after seeing the caskets of the Black Order members who've recently died. He tells them, "That's no way to speak in front of those who've just returned from battle." Reever displays his loyalty again in chapter 139 when he confronts a "Skull" for turning Tapp into a Skull. Reever is saved from this confrontation by Allen. However, he disappears along with the Generals, Bak, Miranda, Marie, and the Scientists when the level 4 Akuma destroys the fifth laboratory, only to resurface again in Chapter 155 where he and company are shown to be alive and well, protected by Miranda's time out. Komui sent troops to assist him in escaping the flames surrounding them caused by the Level 4 Akuma. He is currently involved with the packing of the Science section in preparation for the head quarter's move.
Toma
Toma (トマ) Seiyū: Sakaguchi Koichi
A Finder that accompanies Allen and Kanda to their mission in Matel. During the mission, Pierrot (the Level 2 Akuma) impersonates him and gives him Allen's skin. Because of the fake disguise, Toma is almost killed by Kanda but is saved by Allen. When he was severely injured during the mission, Toma begged Allen to leave him behind so that the mission could be completed. Toma also appears in "The Destruction of the Black Order Headquarters" arc, but does not appear after that. Little else is known about this Finder. In the anime, he is also seen waiting for Lenalee and Allen outside of the Rewinding City. Toma had also escorted Arystar on his first mission in the anime. He has a small tuft of hair on top of his head.
Tapp Dopp
Seiyū: Tanaka Kan
A member of the Science department of the Black Order. He is slightly large and has a tuft of hair on his head. In the beginning, he had bandages covering his eyes, but he has also been seen with a hat covering his eyes. In chapter 139, he is turned into a "Skull." Later, he died and turned into dust.
Asia Branch
Bak Chan
Baku Chan (バク・チャン) Seiyū: Miki Shinichiro
Bak is the leader of the Black Order's Asia Branch, a post occupied also by his great-grandfather (and perhaps the other generations of his family). He seems to be a rival of Komui, but doesn't let him (or anyone else) know about his secret crush on Lenalee, and this fact was used by Allen to threaten him so he would open the door where Fou was fighting with an Akuma named Thread. Like Komui, he is a man completely aware of his duties and will follow God's will strictly. Bak is the smartest person in the Order after Komui, and respects Komui because of that fact (though he seems to have been jealous of Komui before). Even not being a Conformer, he is able to do some spells controlling the structure of the headquarters thanks to the seal of his great-grandfather. Acting as the member of the branch, he is a a bit cold and very responsible leader, but as a human he is very soft and tender. Despite his crush on Lenalee, he and Fou have a very close relationship that seems to be more than merely friendship. It's said his intellect is a triumph of the Asia Branch. Because he was raised like a prince, Bak refers to himself as Ore-sama (something like "divine me" or "the great me" in English) when he is angry (more specifically, angry at Fou), but otherwise he usually calls himself boku (A less formal way for males to refer to himself); Fou refers to him as Baka-Baku (Idiot-Bak). If he gets very agitated, numerous hives appear on his skin (especially if someone refers to his secret obsession with Lenalee). His hives also appeared when he was forced to lock Fou into a room to fight Thread, and he even cried without his own knowing, proving that he cares greatly for her. Bak eventually opened the door.
Bak is later seen exploring the captured ark, and he then attends a meeting with other important members of the Black Order. He shows utter disbelief at Malcom C. Rouvelier's comments regarding Allen as a possible traitor. Later, after Lulu Bell and the akuma began to attack the research center, he managed to avoid capture, and he has helped Allen in the fight by using Finder's equipment to entrap Akuma.
He has recently been seriously injured, the only information being that he was lying in an immense pool of blood along with other members of the Science department because of attempts to hold a level 4 akuma back. He is soon revealed to be alive, but it is unknown if his wounds are life threatening.
Fou
Fō (フォー) Seiyū: Mina Tominaga
Fou is the guardian deity of the Black Order's Asian Branch, sealed by Bak's great-grandfather. Although she is not a human, she often takes on a humanoid form to talk with others. Fou found Allen's body after his attack by Tyki Mikk and took him the headquarters of Asia Branch. She has a "tough-love" attitude, particularly towards Allen. While she was training Allen in an attempt to bring back his Innocence, she would attack without mercy with the hope that the Exorcist would activate his Innocence. When Allen was feeling down, she would appear to him as someone else (eg:Lou Fa (this way she could show her soft side without Allen knowing).
She shares a very strong bond with Bak even though she loves to tease him. She can manipulate her form in order to gain axe hands or to copy someone's appearance. She is also capable of communicating telepathically with others. The Headquarters of the Asian Branch is protected by a very strong barrier created by Fou (who is the "entrance" of the barrier). Inside the shell, she is very caring and is willing to give her life for the sake of those she loves. She took Allen's form to face the level 3 Akuma, in order to buy the real Allen time. Just before they began to fight, she said to herself "Bye bye, Bak." She was hurt badly, but she healed afterwards.
Lou Fa
Rou Fa (蝋花) Seiyū: Sakamoto Maaya
A young woman stationed at the Black Order's Asian Headquarters. She is part of the Science Department and seems to be very shy. She blushes every time she gets close to Allen since she has developed a crush on him. She watched Allen's training along with Likei and prevented a frustrated Fou from killing Allen on an occasion. She has a similar habit to Lavi's, shouting 'Strike!' when she realized Allen is her type.
Likei
Rikei (李佳) Seiyū: Fukuyama Jun
A member of the Black Order stationed at the Asian Headquarters. He was the one who carried Allen when the bonds between his atoms were weakened by the Akuma's attack. He also tried to restrain Allen (with help from Wong) when Bak shut Fou in the same room as the above mentioned Akuma (mentioned in Bak's biography). Likei seems to be a cheerful person, and greatly desires to become part of the Science Department of the Main Headquarters of the Black Order.
Samo Han Wong
Samo Han Won (サモ・ハン・ウォン) Seiyū: Shibata Hidekatsu
Wong is the Chief Minister of the Black Order's Asian Branch and part of the Science Department there. He seems to be the right-hand man of Bak and was sent by him to take Miranda to the group of Exorcists searching for General Marian Cross as a replacement for Allen. He is very loyal to the order and Bak and is "responsible" to restrain him when he is attacked by Fou for no apparent reason. He also is a bit emotional and gets desperate easily, even crying at one point.
Shifu
Sīfu (シィフ) Seiyū: Hiro Shimono
Shifu is an apprentice of the Science Department at the Black Order's Asian Headquarters along with Likei and Lou Fa.
Other Black Order members
65
Seiyū: Chiba Isshin
A ghost-like creature that appears to work with the Headquarters' Science Department. It's not the only ghost-like creature around as seen in Chapter 32 where it was seen flying along with two other ghost-like creatures. It has bandages over its mouth and the number "65" on its head. In the anime-only episode 18, we see that underneath its taped mouth it has very sharp teeth and no lips. In one of the volume seven disscusion rooms the creator stated that 65 was indeed not human.
Alestina Drow Joanason P. Robathan Gia Amadeus V
As the fifth Gatekeeper, this giant face guards the gate of the Black Order's headquarters. He judged Allen to be an Akuma because of the pentacle on his forehead. This mistake caused Kanda to attack Allen and damage his anti-Akuma weapon. He breaks into hives whenever he is touched.
Another incident occurred in the anime, when he judged Krory, who had pentacles in his blood from all the Akuma blood he drank. This caused Komui to send Komurin IV after him.
Komurin I
Komurin I (コムリンI)
One of Komui's inventions that was invented for the sole purpose of making the work load of The Order's science department easier. This Komurin was destroyed by Kanda because the first model was eating his soba and Kanda got very furious. Even though Komurin I was a manga character, it was seen only once in the anime, but was mentioned in the Danwashitsu (talkroom).
Komurin II
Komurin II (コムリンII)
Like Komurin I, Komurin II is one of Komui's inventions that was invented for the sole purpose of making the work load of The Order's science department easier. Unfortunately, Komurin II took some of Komui's coffee and drank it, which then sent it hay-wire. During which, it went after the Exorcists (Lenalee and Allen in particular) in order to make them "stronger" (It once suggested surgically altering Lenalee's figure to make her more "macho" which gave the science department nightmares of how she would look like after that). After capturing Allen, it was destroyed by Lenalee's Dark Boots. VIZ's translation called it "Komlin". Komurin has little robot Komui inside of him. In the manga, Komurin II is presumed destroyed, but makes a reappearance in the anime only episode "Lenalee's Love", still looking badly damaged from its last appearance. After that it was completely destroyed by Allen. In the anime, there are also cases of Komurin III and IV.
Komurin X
The latest model of the Komurin series, the Komurin X's characteristics make it depart significantly from it predecessors. Indeed, in appearance it actually is a replica of its creator, while in size it is approximately twice as tall as a normal human, making it the second smallest known model (besides the anime-only Komurin IV mini); yet, it boasts of an impressive weapon arsenal including a huge assault rifle and a battery of missiles hidden in its belly (however, its aim with these weapons leaves much to be desired). It is also shown to possess some level of sentience, as it is seen lamenting over its own inability to protect its creator.
Timcanpy
Timukyanpī (ティムキャンピー)
Exorcist General Cross Marian's golem which has the abilities to record video and track down enemies. It has also been shown to be nearly indestructible when a level 2 Akuma grabbed his tail and smashed him to pieces on the ground, after the Akuma was killed the pieces simply reformed. The extent of this ability is unknown. Cross gave his apprentice the golem to be his "representative" to the Black Order so Allen can become an official Exorcist. Since then he has been Allen's traveling companion. Timcanpy has proven to be very loyal to Allen. When Allen told Timcanpy to leave him when Tyki was attacking them, Timcanpy was initially reluctant until Allen told him that they needed to protect all the innocences just in case they were the heart. Later, when Allen is reunited with Timcanpy, they have a "tearful moment." It is also revealed that Timcanpy contains a melody inside his body that only Allen can read and play. As a result, Timcanpy and Allen are now collectively considered the new 'Musician'. Even after returning to HQ and despite General Cross' presence, Timcanpy appears to prefer staying with Allen at all times, leading some to speculate that Allen has become his new master.
He seems to change in size in different points of the story and is speculated that the reason may be based on how close it is to its former master. Timcanpy is also very fast, as it was mentioned that Timcanpy is as fast as Lero, the Earl's golem (which is proven when he out races and dodges a swarm of Akuma and their attacks). The author named him after a silver brand called "Tim Campi Design". VIZ Media's English translations actually spell the golem's name as "Timcampi" in the first two volumes, but in volume 3 it is changed to the more correct spelling of "Timcampy". But Katsura Hoshino herself said, that his name is actually "Timcanpy". Timcanpy also has the ability to detect converted Akuma (changed Akuma that work for Cross), as well as pinpoint the location of Cross Marian, which could support theory of his size being related to distance to his former master.
Wireless Golem
Bat-like golems that allow wireless communication. Using these, exorsists can contact finders or members at headquarters. The ones that are used by an Exorcist also have a security feature, it only allows the transmittion of its owner's voice. The wireless golems can be used to contact fellow Exorcists/finders if they are within a couple kilometers of one another, but for contacting headquarters it seems that they need to be connected to a phone first. Unlike Timcampy, these golems don't have anything other than the wireless connection feature, and act as cell phones instead of familiars. Wireless golems change their shape depending on the current situation: an incoming call changes it into a diamond shape from its usual spherical shape.
Malcom C. Rouvelier
Malcom is a special inspector sent to Headquarters by the Order's administration at the Vatican after General Cross and the other Exorcists return with the Ark. He is a tall man who speaks to intimidate those around him. Malcom is quite critical of General Cross and seems to know much more about the Ark and General Cross than he lets on. Currently he wants Allen tried for heresy as he sees his possible link with the 14th Noah as a liability. He has ordered General Cross to a desk job and has forbidden him from speaking with Allen. He wishes to use the Ark to attack the Earl and is setting in motion plans to find new Exorcists to bolster the Order's power for the coming final battle. Most recently he has decided to forcibly invoke Lenalee's Innocence, guilting her with Komui's joining the Black Order for her sake, despite the fact that it could be disastrous both for the Black Order and Lenalee's life.
He appears in Lenalee's flashbacks to her early time in the order when she sees him. He apparently had something to do with her early days of imprisonment with the Order. Even now when he's around Lenalee becomes stressed and goes to Kanda to calm down the way she did since they were kids. Rouvelier has a toothbrush mustache and is said to make great cakes.
Howard Link
Link is also a special inspector sent to Headquarters, although he appears to be more of an administrative assistant to Rouvelier. He is 19 years of age and is of average stature. He has light colored hair which is cut short in front but extends to a braid in the back. He also has two distinguishing dot markings on his forehead, but the significance of these is unknown. He is currently on assignment to keep Allen under constant surveillance, which details following him around during his everyday tasks and boarding with him. He loves cake and pie. In chapter 137 he is seen giving a pumpkin pie that he made to Allen. Lavi teases him occasionally, calling him "two-pimple" because of the dots on his forehead, much to Link's chagrin. Despite not being an Exorcist, he is stated to be physically competent by Rouvelier and is armed with a switchblade on his left wrist, hidden under the sleeve. Recently, he helped save Allen from a Level 4 Akuma.
Andrew Nansen
Head of the Black Order's Oceania Branch. He is present at the meeting after the Exorcists return from the Ark. His corpse was later found in the Black Order's Underground Waterway by Black Order members getting General Cross Marian's wine. He was killed by the Noah Lulu Bell, who used her transformation powers to take his place and infiltrate the Black Order Headquarters.
Luigi Fermi
An elderly man, he is the Black Order's Middle East Branch head and is also present at the meeting.
Renee Epsteine
A middle age woman, she is the Black Order's North American Branch head and is also present at the meeting.
