USS Northampton (CLC-1), was an Oregon City class heavy cruiser laid down by the Fore River Yard of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation at Quincy in Massachusetts on 31 August 1944. Work was suspended on 11 August 1945 but the ship re-ordered as a Command Cruiser on 1 July 1948 and designated CLC-1. She was launched on 27 January 1951 by Mrs. Edmond J. Lampron and commissioned on 7 March 1953. USS Northampton was decommissioned on 8 April 1970 and stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 31 December 1977.
