Tony Mortimer was a member and main songwriter of the 1990's UK chart-topping boy band East 17, with whom he enjoyed at least 6 top 5 singles and no fewer than 2 hit albums between 1992 and 1997. He then left for a solo career after leaving the band due to press problems following fellow member Brian Harvey's controversial comments about drugs. However, he soon faded from the spotlight.
