The McChicken sandwich is a chicken patty sandwich with lettuce and mayonnaise on a bun. Present McChicken sandwiches are somewhat spicy. The sandwich was for a time known as the "Cajun McChicken" sandwich, but the name was changed to just "McChicken" around 2000, at which time the spices may have been temporarily or permanently reduced. The present McChicken sandwiches are also smaller. The shaped chicken patty in the McChicken sandwich is 50% white meat and 50% dark meat. The sandwich was originally introduced in 1980, later removed (and replaced with different chicken sandwiches made with an all-white-meat grilled or fried chicken breast), then reintroduced. It is often sold on the Dollar Menu.
