A pseudocyst is a pathological collection of fluid that is not contained within a cell tissue layer. Therefore, although it may appear as a cyst might, it is technically not a cyst and merely an accumulation of fluid. A pseudocyst of the pancreas results from the passage of inflammatory fluid into the omental bursa.
