Talk:Hunting and shooting in the United Kingdom
Sources
I am looking for information on Hunting in the UK, primarily for use on the Anti-hunting page. Does anyone have demographic information.--Counsel 18:49, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Ireland
Hunting remains unaffected by the Hunting Act 2004 in NI - it's a devolved matter for the NI Assembly, but has never to date been discussed. However, does anyone know the legislative situation in the Republic ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.102.23.117 (talk) 23:11, 18 January 2007 (UTC).
- It is legal, although some aspects, e.g. the netting of hares for coursing and stag hunting require Government licences in various ways. The Republic is obviously not part of the the UK and so perhaps peripheral to this article. MikeHobday 12:18, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Could i please stress that this article in no ways covers the Republic of Ireland, but the United Kingdom. Northern Ireland is also covered, butmore information neds to be added to distrinquish the law from that of Northern Ireland.--Greenfinch100 15:37, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Name of article
This article (as stated in the lead) is about hunting and shooting in the UK, but to a British ear its title Hunting in the United Kingdom is misleading, as in the UK 'hunting' is distinct from 'shooting'. To those in the US, 'hunting' includes both, so this article has a US title for a UK subject. Does anyone object to a move to Hunting and shooting in the United Kingdom? Another approach might be to separate out shooting and to make a new article called Game shooting in the United Kingdom. Xn4 11:22, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
