Penny Ford
Penny Ford (born November 6, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States), also known as Pennye Ford, is a musician, and the younger sister of the late Sharon Redd. Her father was Gene Redd, who was an Executive Producer at King Records.
Following a stint as a GAP Band backing vocalist, she released an album entitled Pennye in 1984 and her following single, "Dangerous" reached the UK Singles Chart in 1985. Likewise, in 1993 she released another album, Penny Ford and had another Top 50 UK single from it: "Daydreaming". She became good friends with Chaka Khan when singing background vocals on "Our Day Will Come", a duet with Edwin Starr.
Ford was a lead singer (alongside the line "I've Got the Power"; a vocal sample from the Jocelyn Brown song, "Love's Gonna Get You") with the German electronic band SNAP! on "The Power". Ford also sang the lead vocal on the Snap! songs, "Oops Up", "Mary Had a Little Boy", and "The Colour of Love".
In 2003, Ford appeared on an episode of Judge Mathis suing a producer/boyfriend. One of her witnesses was Chaka Khan, though she did not appear, Khan spoke to the judge by telephone.
