Deliverance is Opeth's sixth album, following the success of 2001's Blackwater Park. It was recorded between July 22 and September 4 of 2002, at the same time as their sister album Damnation, which was released the following year. The two albums contrast each other as Deliverance is one of their heaviest albums while Damnation became a progression into much softer styles.
