Breakout is the upcoming second studio album by teen pop singer Miley Cyrus. It will be released under Hollywood Records on July 22, 2008 and is her follow up to her 3× multi platinum debut solo album Meet Miley Cyrus. Breakout is the first album by Cyrus that does not have any affiliation to the Hannah Montana character. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes.
Background
Cyrus has said that Meet Miley Cyrus was "just meeting me, finding out who I am", while Breakout was inspired by "what's been going on in my life in the past year."[1] Cyrus has said that she wrote all the songs on the album apart from two.[1].

Miley confirmed a re-release of this album with a duet with Trace, her older brother, of Metro Station.
Performances
The album's title track, "Breakout", and another song from the album, "Fly on the Wall", were first sung at the 2008 Disney Channel Games in early May 2008. These two songs, along with "7 Things", were performed at Z100's Zootopia concert on May 17 2008 as well.[2] Also, "Fly on the Wall" and "Breakout" were performed at KIIS FM's Wango Tango 2008. On July 4, 2008, Miley peformed "Breakout", "7 Things", "Fly on the Wall", "Simple Song", and "Full Circle" at the Stadium of Fire. The first six songs, an album sample and song 9 have all leaked online.
