James F. Carmichael also known as simply Jim Carmichael is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 3rd District since 2000. He currently serves as Assistant Majority Floor Leader.

He is currently serving his fourth term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the third House District, including Wayne County. He is also serving as Assistant Majority Floor Leader of the Ohio House.

Prior to being elected to the Ohio House, he served as the Mayor of Shreve from 1971 to 1979. He was a member of the Wayne County Board of Elections from 1980 to 1999 and served as chairman for the last ten of those years. He also serves County residents as chairman of the Wayne County Republican Party.

In addition to the service in public office, he served for six years in the Ohio National Guard. He served as president of the Wayne County Mayor's Association and president of the Shreve Friends of this Library. Jim has been a member of the Shreve Fire Department and the Wayne County Citizens Task Force.

Additionally, he has spent thirty three years working for what is now Dominion East Ohio Gas Company. According to his official biography he began his tenure at Dominion reading meters and eventually rose to the position of district manager for the Wooster region.

Jim Carmichael attended Walsh College, where he participated in management training classes. Jim is married and has five children.
