Toddy
Appearance
A toddy is a hot drink made from a spirit, hot water, sugar (or honey and lemon). Commonly used spirtis include whiskey and rum.
A hot toddy is often used in the United Kingdom to help warm people up, calm people down and reduce fevers.
Toddy from coconut or palm tree
Toddy is also a liquor fermented from coconut sap. Toddy or Kallu, as know in Kerala, a small state in South India is used as a drink. Toddy is tapped by a Toddy tapper either from coconut or palm tree. The initial white liquid got while tapping is very sweet and does not contain liquor. But after keeping for fermentation this liquid becomes liquor.
The toddy is considered as an alcoholic drink and only got from a "Toddy shop" usually known as "Kallu Shap" in Malayalam language, Kerala.
