The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on September 7, 2008 live from Paramount Pictures Studios. Nominations for a majority of the categories will be announced on the MTV program FNMTV after viewer online voting. The remaining "professional" categories will be chosen by a panel of music industry professionals. Russell Brand is to host the event.
