Eight Miles High by [The Byrds]], (Roger McGuinn/David Crosby/Gene Clark, "5D", 1966) is one of the earliest pieces of psychedelic rock music and first top 40 hit of this 1960s genre. This story of a flight to England features thundering guitars simulating a plane flight. 8 Miles High was banned from some radio stations because of its alleged reference to drugs.

This song was later recorded by Roxy Music (in 1973).
