In 1965, she would earn the Heinrich Mann Prize. During the years in Hoyerswerda, she worked in the combine Schwarze Pumpe power station. From these experiences she wrote the short novel Ankunft im Alltag in 1961. This work lent its name to the Ankunftliteratur, a writing form of East Germany.
