Ray Pruit

Ray Pruit was a character in the 1990s FOX TV series Beverly Hills 90210. He was portrayed by actor Jamie Walters.

Ray was a construction worker whom Donna Martin met during a prank at California University. Ray came from a poor family and often met the gang with much tension.

He slept with Valerie behind Donna's back. Ray's mother approved of his relationship with Donna, mostly because she comes from a rich family.

Ray eventually became physically abusive, having harmed Donna on several occasions. He eventually left the series but returned much later, briefly, having been rehabilitated and engaged to another woman.

Ray Pruit in Popular Culture

Despite his minor status on Beverly Hills, 90210, the character of Ray Pruit continues to manifest in several aspects of popular culture, including "Pruit parties" (in which male party goers dress in a flannel shirt and jeans, females dress to resemble Donna Martin, and the conclusion of the party involves comical reenactments of the scene in which Donna is pushed down a set of stairs) and the use of the term "Pruit" to describe an older model Ford or Chevrolet truck, such as the one Ray Pruit drives on the show.
