David Clarence Boon (Born December 29, 1960, in Launceston, Tasmania) is one of Tasmania's most famous cricketers and personalities.

Making his test debut against the West Indies in Brisbane in 1984, he went on to be one of Australia's most successful cricketers.

His popularity extended off the field, where he became something of a cult figure. Following the resignation of former Governor of Tasmania Richard Butler, Boon has become an early favourite for the permanent posititon.
