Premise

The following plot summary for the film was released on the film's website.

Based on the short story Harrison Bergeron by celebrated author Kurt Vonnegut, 2081 depicts a dystopian future in which, thanks to the 212th Amendment to the Constitution and the unceasing vigilance of the United States Handicapper General, everyone is finally equal... The strong wear weights, the beautiful wear masks and the intelligent wear earpieces that fire off loud noises to keep them from taking unfair advantage of their brains. It is a poetic tale of triumph and tragedy about a broken family, a brutal government, and an act of defiance that changes everything.[1]

Cast

  • James Cosmo as George Bergeron: A man whose intelligence is way above normal, and therefore is forced to wear a handicap radio in his ear which sends out a sharp noise every twenty seconds or so to prevent George from taking unfair advantage of his brain. He is the father of Harrison.
  • Julie Hagerty as Hazel Bergeron: A woman with perfectly average intelligence, meaning she cannot think of anything except in short bursts. She is married to George Bergeron and is the mother of Harrison.

Little is known about the production at this point, other than that it has been funded by a generous donation from Thor Halvorssen's Moving Picture Institute. A trailer is available in several formats, including iPod and HD, at http://www.finallyequal.com/
