Blurb
"Koom Valley? That was where the trolls ambushed the dwarfs, or the dwarfs ambushed the trolls. It was far away. It was a long time ago. But if he doesn't solve the murder of just one dwarf, Commander Sam Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch is going to see it fought again, right outside his office. With his beloved Watch crumbling around him and war-drums sounding, he must unravel every clue, outwit every assassin and brave any darkness to find the solution. And darkness is following him. Oh...and at six o'clock every day, without fail, with no excuses, he must go home to read 'Where's My Cow?', with all the right farmyard noises, to his little boy. There are some things you have to do." [2]
Plot Details
Major details of the story are currently unknown. Known minor details include:
- Vimes is trying to get home from work in time to read a children's book to his son – and fills the book in with people he met during the day. ("Is that my cow? It goes 'Buggrit. Millennium hand and shrimp.' That is not my cow. That is Foul Ole Ron."). Note: Where's My Cow?, by Terry Pratchett and illustrated by Melvyn Grant, is a young children's book (or "A Discworld picture book for people of all sizes" as the cover has it) also due to be released in October 2005.
- Cecil Wormsborough Saint John Nobbs has acquired a girlfriend--an exotic dancer who was impressed when Nobby put an IOU in her garter.
- The Watch will be taking on its first vampire recruit. She is a 51 year old vampire acting 16 who prefers to be called Sally. Conflicts between her and Angua might arise as the story unfolds.
- A 50 feet long painting of the battle of Koom Valley is stolen.
Paul Kidby's Homepage is a short reference to it though. The game Thud will be featured in the book. As for the story, apparently it is about the murder of a dwarf in Ankh-Morpork and the old rivalry of dwarfs and trolls might come back if Vimes can't solve it quickly.
