Bang! Bang! Eche!

Bang! Bang! Eche! (pronounced Bang Bang Etch) are a Dance punk band from Christchurch, New Zealand.

History

The band started at the begining of 2007, after Doney and Worsley started dating, and decided to play music together. Inspired by local legend Glyn MacLean, the duo began making music in the adult contemporary genre, in order to gain film publishing deals in Hollywood. Quickly dissilusioned with their below average success in this market, they decided to change musical direction, and enlarge the band. A few weeks later, the pair met Ryder and Sullivan, during a game of Live Action Role Playing, or LARP. They had only that day been fired from the Joe Sampson Experience support band, and were looking for a new musical adventure. The joined the band immediately, and began playing small shows around the greater Christchurch area. Mahoney then joined the solidified line-up after seeing the band play, and throttling Doney into submission. The band agreed on the condition that Mahoney would only be allowed to join if he played the lesser instrument of the Synthesizer. Following a tough initial period wherein the band struggled to write their first songs, the group met spiritual guru and overall svengali Josh Burgess. The band then blossomed remarkably, and recorded their debut EP after a flurry of shows in late 2007. Burgess is now widely acknowledged as being the unofficial leader of the band, and main songwriter - even though he has never been credited as such or played with the band live. The band are currently recording their second EP, in the remote area of Stewart Island. It is rumored that once again Burgess is writing, performing, recording, and producing every song on the record. Despite their sudden fame, the band have continued to be active members in the LARP community.
