Quantum of Solace[2] is an upcoming video game based on the films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.[3] The game's release is to coincide with the release of Quantum of Solace.[1] The game will be the first James Bond title published by Activision; the company acquired the video game license to the Bond franchise in 2006.[4] The game will be released on multiple platforms and, according to the official site, is being developed by four different companies: Treyarch, Eurocom, Beenox, and Vicarious Visions.[2] It will be powered by the Call of Duty 4 game engine.[5] This will also be the first James Bond game to be released on a current generation console as well as the first to feature Daniel Craig's voice and likeness. Quantum of Solace the video game will also feature the voices and likenesses from both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
In May an official site for the game went live. Currently the site features video, pictures, weapons, story, concept art, and news regarding Quantum of Solace movie and game and more will be added as development continues and the release date nears. Treyarch has said that multiplayer will be a big part of the game and will reveal the multiplayer for the new Bond game at a game convention in late August. The content already featured on the site is from both the 21st and 22nd Bond films, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.[2] Leaked screenshots surfaced in early July.[6] The official trailer appeared online July 15.[7]
Gameplay
The core gameplay in Quantum of Solace will be that of a first-person shooter. Throughout the game, however, the view will switch to a third-person view to emphasize that the players are being James Bond. This third-person view will be used with a cover system and quick time events, among other scenarios. An example is using quick time events to chase an enemy during a level that is a recreation of the construction site chase at the beginning of the Casino Royale film. On July 9th footage was released with an interview with a producer of the Quantum of Solace game showing Bond shooting in the Casino Royale. A teaser trailer for the game was released on July 15th. Demos of the game were released at the Activision Press Conference at E3 2008. The first demo was from Casino Royale where Bond had to follow Le Chiffre and the second demo was from the beginning of Quantum of Solace where Bond has to chase after a man through the cisterns of Siena and eventually on the streets.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer in Quantum of Solace has been confirmed with multiplayer modes for up to 12 players that include unique Bond modes. Treyarch has said that it will go into more detail about the multiplayer component of the new Bond game at the Games Convention in August.
