Transcaucasian Iberia is the term designated to the first Kingdom of Iberia established in Eastern Georgia by the Iberians from the 4th century BC. The term is used to distinguish it from the Iberian peninsula, where the nations of Spain and Portugal arelocated, which is a far more common usage to native English speakers.

The Kabard and Avarians still present in the Caucasus may have obtained their ethnonyms from a memory of these related peoples.
