Aldi Competitors
If you look at the US comptetitors, only the 'discount' supermarkets are shown. If you want to include Coles and Woolworths, then I believe that the long list of supermarket chains in the US should also be included. What do you think? 211.30.123.137 (talk) 04:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- If you look at Talk:Aldi, you will see that the decision has been made to keep the Competitors list to 'Top competitors' or 'Main, direct' competitors. The criteria is still not for "Discount supermarkets" - Coles and Woolworths would certainly be considered two of the primary main competitors of Aldi in Australia. Thanks for the birthday greeting! I was just wondering how you got my birthday, because I didn't see my name on any of the birthday lists. I appreciate the thought, thanks again! Voyaging(talk) 15:37, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

St Laurence's College
You replaced the common names? These ones, "(commonly known as SLC or Lauries)". Do you happen to have a reference that says these are the common names? So when it says "commonly known as". Who is it commonly known by?--Sting Buzz Me... 11:48, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes I did - I placed one there originally and another was added at a later time by another editor. The college is known by these common names by students, staff and the wider school community.
- For SLC, I point to the school's domain name - http://www.slc.qld.edu.au and the following Marist College, Ashgrove site linking to CIC schools with common names - http://www.marash.qld.edu.au/sport_cic_venues.shtml
- For Lauries, I point to a page from the college website (see final paragraph) http://www.slc.qld.edu.au/slcweb/primary.htm and the prementioned Ashgrove site - http://www.marash.qld.edu.au/sport_cic_venues.shtml
- I hope this satisfies your verifiability request - I will edit the article to include this information. Kipoc (talk) 12:09, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- They're not common names. They are abbreviations. It makes the lead look messy. I think it looks much nicer without "(commonly known as SLC or Lauries)" The refs are from Qld Ed, so not third party as per WP:RS anyhow.--Sting Buzz Me... 12:36, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- If it's an issue of article appearance, that is a completely separate issue to sources. In my opinion regarding page appearance, the addition of citations makes it messier - I think the statement in question looks fine otherwise.
- The requirement for sources on how the school is commonly referred to (regardless of whether it's a common name, abbreviation or acronym) forces the use of such sources as those utilised. Peer reviewed journals, newspapers, etc do not typically list such details of schools. I believe your interpretation of various policies including MOS:ABBR, WP:CITE & WP:VERIFY may differ from mine but I believe one of the statements from WP:VERIFY is appropriate here - The appropriateness of any source always depends on the context. The statement of how the school is commonly referred to is not a contentious statement in itself, is not a fringe theory or totally unverifiable. Kipoc (talk) 13:29, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm? Ok, I think your interpretation of WP:CITE may differ to mine? I was puzzled by your use of "WP:CITE#CHALLENGED" in an edit summary? That just didn't make any sense at all. Absolutely no discussion was needed to remove abbreviated names in the lead (which fails WP:MOS in my opinion) as all was needed was a mention of what I did in the edit summary. Anyhow, I disagree with the so called "common" names being there so I've given my opinion on the article. It honestly does make the lead look messy.--Sting Buzz Me... 22:13, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Actually you know, It's such a small thing. Remove them, reword them, move them to another section - whatever you deem appropriate. I believe that they make provide a useful bit of information regarding the school but I also can't see why it's worth debating further. I've edited my talk page to remove my initial response in favour of this statement so you can look at the history if you want but for six words, an argument regarding Wikipedia policy is wasting both our time. I won't act on the statement in question again and I leave the final decision to you. Kipoc (talk) 07:39, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Espadrilles
If you complain about my insertions to the page, please note that all links, especially the one to Bangladesh are commercial links. Please be consistent.... I am a designer of espadrilles and posted a very up to date piece on the modern state of espadrille manufacture with no commercial bias. This was deleted, so you now have a poor page of information which is loaded towards a single manufacturer.(petertoledo)

- Thanks for your advice, however you omitted to delete the worst offender. pare gabia have a link to a page on Wikipedia that is just an advert . Can you explain this?
- I believe your expectation of me to explain and the assertion I omitted something I was not aware of (again) is no appropriate in this case. I acted previously on your comments regarding external links - you made no mention of another page of concern. Now I am aware of it, I will examine the page and act as per Wikipedia policy - something that is entirely within your ability to do as well. Kipoc (talk) 08:30, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Kipoc,
Price of espadrilles varies wildly worldwide and people are highly interested to get pricing information of espadrilles naturally. So, External Links containing prices from Manufacturers' level to Retail level could be included at the page to meet the demand of users. This is not for advertising purpose obviously.
Cheers!
David
PS. Pare Gabia is one of the oldest espadrille designers in the world and deserve to be included at Wikipedia (just like other worldclass companies) and Rat is just a mushroom grown designer with low quality Mexican products and deserve not to be included at the Wikipedia. The whole espadrille industry in the world including Spain, France etc. are powered by the jute of Bangladesh and deserve to be included at the Wikipedia for information purpose I believe. Even the jute used to make Rat espadrilles came from Bangladesh for sure. 117.18.224.166 (talk) 04:45, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Adoption tasks
I see from your contributions that you have been online almost every day, yet you have not completed the tasks that i have set you. They are not big tasks, and would only take five minutes of your time. If it is just the case that you have not realised that i have set you new tasks, can i strongly recommend that you add your program page to your watch list if you have not done so already. I am not asking for much and the tasks i set you are for your benefit. Thank you. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk | Sign 12:57, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Apologies - It is on my watchlist, however so are far too many things obviously and I missed it. All sorted Kipoc (talk) 16:17, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
