Jason Shawn Alexander or J. Alexander (B. 1975) is a painter, illustrator, draftsman, and storyteller from Tennessee.
Biography
Recognized by his peers,[1] he is a Silver Medal Award recipient from the Society of Illustrators-Los Angeles as well as a nominee for two Eisner Awards.
Jason is a working artist with no formal art education. Juxtapoz Magazine's contributing writer Brad Martin eloquently describes his pieces, "his gritty, drippy, and dark style lends an ominous air, like a fresh grave, and the subject’s poses humanize the whole thing."[2]
In addition to internationally exhibited commissioned and original paintings, he has produced illustrations for Dark Horse Comics, Warner Brothers, DC Comics, Hasboro, White Wolf, Inc, and Dalmatian Press. A self-starter, his creator-owned Empty Zone was published for years by Sirius Entertainment. And he won critical acclaim for his contributions to Poison Elves: Lusiphur and Linlith, written by Drew Hayes, also for Sirius Entertainment.
He currently resides and works in Los Angeles, California.
