Mike'd Up: Francesa on the Fan (began 2 September 2008) is an afternoon drive sports radio program based out of WFAN in New York City that features Mike Francesa. The show is simulcast on the YES Network.[1] The show is the successor of the first nationally known radio sports team in the history of sports talk radio, The Mike and the Mad Dog program that ran from 5 September 1989 until 15 August 2008 when Francesa's partner, Christopher Russo left to start his own solo show.[2]

Show format

The show's temporary name is "Mike'd Up", and subtitled, "Francesa on the FAN."[3] Francesa has a TV show with the same name, and WFAN had to secure permission from NBC to use the name "Mike'd Up".[3]

The exact format of the show has yet to be determined.[4] According to Francesa: [4]

"I'll never have another partner. It won't be a co-hosting situation. It will be my show. But I want to have personalities and develop personalities and have other opinions and other voices. I am not sure how long it will take me to develop that."

Francesa added that there was no rush, and the show could evolve over time.[4]

Jingle

The show's opening is nearly the same as the opening jingle of the Mike and the Mad Dog program. Besides for changing the lyrics of one line, the only significant difference is the removed references to Chris Russo. Over the first few programs, Francesa has already criticized the people who made the jingle for not working hard enough on a new jingle.[6]
