Founded as a women's college in 1908, Coker College officially became co-ed in 1969, although men had been attending since World War II. It is located in Hartsville, South Carolina and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

A liberal arts college, it was once afilliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, but is now non-denominational.

The highly ranked college has an average class size of 12, and enrolls about 500 students each year.
