Ecoletage's RfA

I removed your refactoring of my comment, and came up with a much simpler implementation. The bolding and insertion of your signature just made the whole thing look choppy and added emphasis I didn't intend. Your formatting was also off as you didn't complete the bracketed wiki-markup and instead inserted an extra set of parenthesis. I understand why you did this, but don't appreciate not having the chance to do so myself. I'm a fairly active user, and if you feel something I've said needs refactoring or clarification, I'd appreciate the courtesy of at least a note on my talk page telling me you've changed my comments. Thanks. AniMate 19:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's another reason why we use Google translations to assert the quality of foreign language articles. While babel fish is horrid, I've seen more than a handful of Google machine translations, even from Chinese, that made a lot of sense. Also, there's no corresponding entry on the Korean Wiki. Anyhow, I've put this up at Pages needing translation, let's see what comes out of it. De728631 (talk) 09:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eccentric Flamingoes

Can you tell me why you deleted the entry for my cricket club the Eccentric Flamingoes?

The reason given was Patent Nonsense!

Are you trying to suggest we don't exist?

Here's our homepage on the net http://www.geocities.com/hitoutgetout/

A reference to a match reports from one of our regular opponents http://www.woodcutterscc.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogsection&id=5&Itemid=33

2 mentions on the fixture list of another Edinburgh Club http://www.geocities.com/stucampbell_uk/mortonfxitures2m.htm

Another match report http://infcricket.inf.ed.ac.uk/2006/2006MatchReports.htm

Hope we can clear this up amicably

Cheers Simon —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.235.182.33 (talk) 20:02, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No but the article was nonsensical and made no assertion of notability. It will need a total rewrite in any event. Look at WP:MOS, wp:v and WP:N. These will guide you in your editing. I will restore the article, based on Google book hits. Looking at the sources you quote, geocities and blogs don't count as reliable sources. Mentions on your webpage or your opponents do not. Mere existence does not suffice for an encyclopedia article-- subjects must meet notability requirements. The paucity of google news hits argues against notability based on significant coverage by third party sources. Google books hits argue for it. Cheers, and happy editing. Li'l ol' Largo

Funny. Aren't city councils a blast? :-) They're even more fun to cover as a reporter. been there, done that, and glad I'm in sports now. (Which reminds me - gotta get back to work, as deadline approaches.) - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 01:57, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Effervescence mm'8 page. The page has just been made, and is under development. Please give time for it to meet Wikipedia Standards. Efforts are made to remove all statements making it sound like an AD.

Thanks,

My RFA

Thanks for voting on my RFA, although it was unsuccessful, I do appreciate the feedback; my lowered activity since my last RFA was certainly a valid concern. You’re also right in saying that policy has changed; I think I’m up-to-date, so hopefully I can see you around Wikipedia and perhaps sway you :D. Thanks again for the vote regardless of what it was, and I truly hope that I’ll see you around.--danielfolsom 03:19, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the collision. That's a very rare case there - I hate to protect a page of a person I've blocked, but in this case I think it was necessary. Toddst1 (talk) 19:40, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hi, just need to know what makes my deleted article "Carpool One" more unsuitable than articles such as eMusic. I'd like to provide information about this free service in Wikipedia in the correct format, so it is not treated as spam but rather as a useful information about the service. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ginni650 (talkcontribs) 01:50, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Super Mario for MegaZeux

Hello there editor. I was wondering how contributors can improve on a page after it has been flagged for deletion. A lot of programmers have been talking about this simple fan-made game, in chats and forums and it received a bit of popularity for a while for its use of ASCII graphics to achieve the look it has. However there is no real place to find complete information about the game. More contributors I'm sure will make their edits but not if it has been deleted.

Thanks a lot and any help you can offer would be fantastic. I'd like to contribute to other articles in the future too. Editing articles is a lot more easier than creating one I've discovered.

I have opened a request for comment for user conduct on Roberttheman2008. Feel free to comment or provide any evidence you have in the case. Thank you, MuZemike (talk) 15:24, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't look like he's intending to follow your strong recommendations after trying to read his response in the RfC. MuZemike (talk) 13:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Alleged Spam

"same thing. Please stop using Wikipedia to promote your own agenda."---Dlohcierekim

A.B. and Dlohcierekim,
shouldn't those be Mijnlulinjouwkut's, Corpx's and Chakira calls?!?

After all, it is THEIR user pages.

Huh?!?

What's that template of Chakira's? Template:User DGAF

I'm kinda new to Wikipedia,

but is it not enough that I stay away from the articles and article dicussions until I learn some stuff:

I also have to keep away from user's talk pages,

and/or that you savants are permitted to edit other peoples user talk pages?

As for spam, the sites I cited are MediaWiki types, a few that have interests not too unlike Wikipedia's.

So I guess the Sarah Palin Barack Obama John McCain pages will remained locked,

perhaps un-editted until after the election when a few of them won't matter a fraction as much.

Today, I was going to spend a few hours working on a catagory for Wikipedia,

but with guys like you around, why bother?

What Wikipedia is not

Seems like it's not a lot of things.

Might I add user friendly?

What other ways do you kill people's interest in Wikipedia?

Hope the both of you have a far more pleasant day than I'm having.

About my 16th articale

I believe you where asking about this "16. The administration has favored me, much more then the rest of you have. If they wanted to they could have banned you all for life just for messing around with me or they could have banned me long ago. Since administration have shown me good courtesy, then even if you guys still have problems with me, then go to my talk page and tell me all about it."

That part of my comment was directed at the lower ranking editors if you didn't notice. Gnfnrf responded to the entire articale.

I got just one simple question, do you know the user who originally authored The SNES game maker? I think he or she might be able to get me in contact with Mr. Johnson. The guy who is said to be incharge of developing the software. If you don't know who the original author is then can you aquire the information for me because I still need to talk to this person no matter what your desision will be. The rules of wikipedia don't have to read as if they came out of pages of college books, I heard somewhere that a law was being preposed that would require credit card companies to re-write their terms and conditions to where they could be understood on an 8th grade reading level. I didn't have time to read over all the rules, my real problems was trying to format the articals correctly because I'm so use to basic html code. Besides the question that I have for the original author is if I can be given a way to contact Mr. Johnson myself and convince him to provide more information about his software so that software can be posted on wikipedia. If I where to contact him then I could request that he set up a website to give more details about the software and post beta versons of the software.

I would also like to know how the rules here can be written and re-written officially.
