Hargreaves Lansdown plc (LSE: HL.) is a financial service company based in Bristol that sells funds and shares and related products via its website and through the post to retail investors in the United Kingdom. The Company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
History
The Company was founded in 1981 by Peter Hargreaves and Stephen Lansdown and initially traded from a bedroom.[1]
In May 2007 the Company was first listed on the London Stock Exchange. The Company's two founders continued to hold a 80% of the company.[2]
Operations
The Company mainly operates under the Vantage brand. Available products under this brand include ISA, SIPP, PEP, and funds and share accounts.
Investors are responsible for their own investment decisions: the Company provides fund research and opinion.[3]
The Company also operates four multi-manager unit trusts each of which in turn own a share in a number of underlying funds.
