One in a Million is the second studio album by American R&B singer Aaliyah, released by Blackground Records on August 27, 1996 (see 1996 in music)., the album was notable for being Aaliyah's breakout album and for being a major landmark in the careers of songwriter/producer Missy Elliott and Tim "Timbaland" Mosley. Elliott and Mosley wrote and produced the bulk of the album. Other producers included Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupri, and Kay Gee. The album's executive producers were Barry Hankerson and Jomo Hankerson.

The album includes the singles"One in a Million", "Hot Like Fire" (Timbaland's Groove Mix), "The One I Gave My Heart To", "If Your Girl Only Knew" and "4 Page Letter". The album sold over 11 million copies worldwide. The biggest hit from the album was "The One I Gave My Heart To" which entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at #24 and quickly became a top 10 hit in the U.S. Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
