The term MOB (all caps) may have several meanings, depending on context:

  1. Rice University's Marching Owl Band (The MOB)
  2. Man over board of a ship or boat
  3. Movable Object Block, an alternative term for sprite (computer science)
In computer gaming, the acronym has given rise to the more general-purpose word, mob which is used in lower, mixed or upper-case interchangeably.
  1. It has also (less commonly) been used to refer to mail-order bride operations
  2. The MOB railway in Switzerland, Chemins de fer Montreux-Oberland Bernois
  3. A rap group straight outta West Palm Beach (the 561) composed of G Murder, Jim and Juice, and Kontinental Brekfes.
