Aubrey Aitken
Template:Anglican Portal William Aubrey Aitken (1911 - 1985) was the second Bishop of Lynn from 1972 until 1986[1]. Born into an ecclesiastical family[2] and educated at Norwich School and Trinity College, Oxford [3] he was ordained in 1935. After curacies at Tynemouth and Kingston, Jamaica he was successively the incumbent at Kessingland, Sprowston [4] and St Margaret’s King’s Lynn [5] before becoming Archdeacon of Norwich in 1961, a position he held until his elevation to the Episcopate. A keen yachtsman[6],he died in post at the age of 73[7].
