Halo 3: ODST
A new Halo game is being developed by Bungie.[1]
Development
In an interview on MTV July 16th, 2008, Microsoft’s head of Xbox business Don Mattrick stated that Bungie is working on a new Halo game for Microsoft, which he stated is independent of Halo Wars and Halo Chronicles.[1] An announcement of the new Halo project was expected at the 2008 E3 game exposition, which Bungie stated "has been building for several months", but was delayed by their publisher Microsoft.[2] The Halo announcement was to be part of Microsoft's 150-minute E3 presentation, and was cut to trim the presentation down to 90 minutes; Microsoft has stated it wants to give the game its own dedicated event.[3]
Rumors have circulated that this is the title called "Halo: Forerunner" which since 2006 has been rumored to be in development.[4] It would supposedly feature a squad-based Halo game that would feature darker and more violent combat, and would not include the series leading character Master Chief.[4] The idea that a squad-based Halo game is being developed was further fueled when Christian Allen, creative director of video game company Red Storm, makers of the Ghost Recon series, was hired at Bungie as a design lead.[5] There have also been rumors of a possible continuation of the original Halo series, but these have been unfounded thus far. The September 23, 2008 Halo 3 update may have been misinterpreted as a whole other game due to its addition of a relatively massive 750 gamerscore of acheivments.
The is a possible new ARG surronding this game. A new message on bungie.net labeled "Keep It Clean" was posted on 9-19-08. Then on 9-22-08 another new message appeared labeled "Pardon Our Dust". Inside these refer to a S1 (Maybe Spartan Mark 1, Master Chief is a Spartan Mark 2) and to Fleet HQ which is located on the planet Reach. THis indicates that this game will take place before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.
