Begunje is a village in the Radovljica municipality in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is the location of the headquarters of the Elan Line company. The 12th century Kamen castle lies just outside the village and the 15th century Katzenstein mansion, rebuilt in the late 17th century, at the centre of the village. The Katzenstein mansion was used by the gestapo as a prision in WWII and a museum dedicated to hostages, victimes of the gestapo, is arranged in part of the building. The mansion house also houses a psychiatric hospital, which accepts patients mainly from the Upper Carniola region.
