"Cuba Libre" (Free Cuba) is a song by Gloria Estefan, released as the third single from her eighth studio album, Gloria!.

Song History

This song was the second consecutive single to not be released in Estefan's home country U.S., but was released in Europe.

The song, as its name says, is dedicated to Gloria's birthplace, Cuba, who left when she was 2 years old. The song became controversial in some places because its music video, which shows a bomb exploding after falling from a plane to a little boat with some men on the sea who are trying to flee from the island of Cuba.

However, the song, even with the controversy made, has become an anthem to the Cuban exile community and in Spain the song reached the Top Ten.
