The 2008 American League Championship Series (ALCS), the second round of the 2008 American League playoffs is a best-of-seven series.
Game 1 is currently scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2008. The series will be telecast on TBS. If Game 7 is played, it will be played on Sunday, October 19.[1]
The series will feature the winners of the two American League Division Series: the Boston Red Sox against the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay will have home field advantage, since by rule a wild card qualifier cannot have home field advantage in an LDS or LCS.
This is the Rays' first appearance in the ALCS while the Red Sox are making their fourth appearance in the last six seasons and ninth overall.
