Siobhán Donaghy
Siobhan Donaghy, a British/Irish female singer-songwriter, has had a career as a solo artist and as a group member. Until September 2001, she was part of the British pop group, the Sugababes. Leaving the group in September 2001 due to artistic differences, she was replaced with new member Heidi Range. After her departure from the girls Siobhan released three solo singles and a solo album.
Revolution In Me
In March 2003 Siobhan released her first single as a solo artist. "Nothing But Song" was released as a 7" vinly single only and was relatively unknow. In June 2003 her first commercial solo single was released. "Overrated" entered the Official UK Singles Chart at #19. Following up "Overrated", the single "Twist of Fate" was released in September 2003 and charted at #52. 2 weeks later saw the release of her debut album Revolution In Me.
Siobhan's debut album was released on London Records on September 29th 2003 in the UK. It's debut chart position was a dissapointing #117, said to be due to lack of promotion. Lending a hand to Siobhan on Revolution In Me were father-son producers and writers Cameron and Marlon McVey. The Sugababes, All Saints and Neneh Cherry are some of the acts Cameron McVey has worked with in the past. Each of the 12 tracks on the album was co-written by Siobhan with the likes of McVey, Preetesh Hirji, Matt Kent, amongst several others. The title "Revolution In Me" is said to reflect her decision to go her seperate ways, leaving the Sugababes. Several of the tracks on the album have titles which do not appear in the lyrics (see List of songs where the_title does not appear in the lyrics)
Shanghai Nobody
Shanghai Nobody is an inventive anagram of Siobhan Donaghy. Siobhan released "Nothing But Song" under this title as she did not want to be known as "The girl who left the Sugababes". Upon the release of her first commercial single, "Overrated", Siobhan reverted back to her given name, Siobhan Donaghy.
Future for Siobhan
Siobhan has parted with London records, and has recorded a second album. Although she has no record contract as of yet she is set to sign up to a label in the very near future. Details of this album are relatively unknown, but it is know that the large part of it was recorded in France.
