"Burn Rubber on Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)" is a song originally performed by The Gap Band and written by member Charlie Wilson and producers Lonnie Simmons and Rudy Taylor. It peaked at #46 on the U.S. charts but it was a #1 hit on the R&B charts.


In 1996, George Michael sampled the song for his hit "Star People".
