Skullcandy is a privately held company based in Park City, Utah that produces headphones, earbuds, hands free devices, audio backpacks and MP3 players.[1] Skullcandy's products are targeted at a younger demographic[1] and at the outdoor sports market (such as snowboarders, skateboarders, etc.).[2]
The CEO of Skullcandy is Rick Alden, who was named one of vSpring Capital's "Top 100 Venture Entrepreneurs" of 2008,[3] and holds a patent for technology that integrates mobile phones and music players.[4]
Product reception
Skullcandy products are known for having unusual names and stylish designs.[1] Their high end headphones have a good reputation among DJs for providing comfort and high quality sound reproduction.[5] However, some reviewers have criticized Skullcandy headphones for being pricey and for not quite delivering optimal sound performance.[6] [7]
