= Covenant-Breaker =

Covenant-Breaking as originaly defined in the Writings was to first oppose Bahá'u'lláh . After the passing of Baha'u'llah, it became opposition to the appointed Interpreter of the Faith, Abdul-Baha. In Abdul-Baha'is Will and Testament He appointed Shoghi Effendi as First Guardian of the Baha'i Faith, and defined again in the same manner opposition to the Guardians as Covenant-Breaking. Abdul-Baha advised all Baha'is to shun anyone opposing the Guardianship.

Haifan Baha'is under the Hands of the Cause defined opposition to them as Covenant-Breaking, and when they elected a Universal House of Justice oppsosition to it, though one cannot find in the Writings any definition that defines it except as opposition to the Guardianship.

Hence the sans-guardian Baha'is under the Hands, and now under their Universal House of Justice, have declared all Orthodox Baha'is as Covenant-Breakers. Orthodox Baha'is believe the majority of believers in the Haifan group to be mis-led but not deliberate Covenant-Breakers, but do hold that the leadership in Haifa, first the Hands, and now their Universal House of Justice and their Councilors are violators of the provisions of Abdul-Baha's Will and Testament and oppose the continuing Guardianship. These leaders are, therefore, considered Covenant-Breakers by the Orthodox group.
