Review MOND
I've addressed all objections to the proposal of making Modified_Newtonian_dynamics a featured article. Please review and (hopefully) change your vote to support. Thank you. Loom91 08:24, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
Whyte image
Hi again - I uploaded a scan from an old Finnish encyclopedia to the Whyte notation page. If you think it needs formatting (it's very tall), please let me know, thanks! --Janke | Talk 08:29:18, 2005-09-06 (UTC)

Help with deletion
Slambo, since you are an admin, may I ask you to delete the temporary page Cartoon/Animated cartoon that I used for compositing a new article (formerly only a redirect). This temporary page is now superfluous. AdThanksVance, I believe you say! --Janke | Talk 05:51:18, 2005-09-08 (UTC)
Thanks, PAL!
Slambo, thanks for catting the Paducah and Louisville Railway (PAL) article I worked on yesterday. I don't know how I missed that obvious one ;-). It was my first foray into rail articles and I appreciate your keen eye on my edits as I try to help out! Thanks :-). -Roby Wayne Talk • Hist 15:42, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
Sean, my boy...
How come you don't have on your user page the fact that you were featured in a newspaper article about Wikipedia?!? Congrats man. Also, were you aware that your archives were off (Sep links to Aug., Aug links to July; or is the link supposed to be when you actually archived?)? Just thought I'd pop in and say nice job on the newspaper mention. Cheers. --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 17:15, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
At it again
I'm back at it again with my Bruce Johnson article, nominated as a FAC. He's Ohio's lieutenant governor and already at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bruce Johnson are votes opposing. I know I am a pest, but I find when I don't go out and ask folks such as yourself for their votes, my FAC's invariably are defeated. So I'd be grateful if you'd put your two cents worth in. Ave! PedanticallySpeaking 18:40, 16 September 2005 (UTC) P.S. Haven't seen you around, but then, I've not been working on the railroad articles, either. Hope you are well.
Sean, would you take a look at at the new article on Buckingham Branch Railroad for me and tweak it, improve, change as needed, etc? this outfit is big news for railfans around here. I put it up for DYK, although I know a whille back, we were scolded for too much RR stuff. Hope you are well. I have relocated from Richmond to a quiet community in the Historic Triangle near Williamsburg. Thanks!! Mark in Virginia. Vaoverland 12:21, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
Two requests...
... for you, Slambo: First, User:213.138.128.13 needs to be blocked for persistent vandalism - has been blocked before, but should get a longer one, see contribs. Second, can you please check Wikipedia:Centralized_discussion/Generic_image_file_names and, if you feel it is appropriate, protect the latest uploaded images. I asked User:Noel to do this some time ago, but have heard nothing. Regards, and thanks, --Janke | Talk 10:31, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
Station Naming Convention
Hi, Slambo. I've encountered you many times over the course of our work in railroad-related editing, and you've always struck me as a very capable editor. I'd just like to say thanks for your efforts.
I'm attempting to restart the discussions at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (stations) after returning from wikibreak to find the general chaos left by another war on the subject (see here for the worst example). I'm getting pretty sick of the perpetual fighting over article naming (nevermind what I think of the names being used!), and would just like for there to be some sort of standard so that we can know it is safe to start bypassing redirects without worrying that a page is going to be moved from under us without warning. I'd greatly appreciate it if you would add your own thoughts to the discussion, and perhaps try to bring this subject to the attentions of our fellow editors so that a wide consensus can be built.
Many thanks, --CComMack 20:47, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
BBRR and Norfolk Southern Railway (former)
SEAN: The Buckingham Branch article hitting DYK on the main page has brought some great local publicity to this growing short-line in my backyard. the statae rail people are tickled to death with the Wikipedia publicity. thanks for your help.
I was also pleased to see that User:SPUI created a new (and long-overdue) WP article on this railroad. Harry Bundy of our Virginian Railway group on Yahoo is a retiree of the original Norfolk Southern and an excellent source for information, as is photographer Warren Calloway. We may be able to get some good images, as well as logo help, etc. There is also a group on Yahoo for the original Norfolk Southern. I moderate the one on the VGN, and belong to the other, as well as several other local Yahoo rail groups. I will pass along the good news about the new WP article on what we genrally call the orif=ginal NSR WY, and surely some additional facts and some links will emerge to enhance the article. I am going to put in a DYK nomination for it, as the name thing alone is quite interesting. Go WikiProject: Trains!! Yours in Virginia's Historic Triangle, Mark. Broad + metre gauge
In India we have both the broad and metre gauge. I was wondering: what if a compartment had two sets of wheels: One for broad and one for metre, so in effect could easily switch gauges on the run. What are the problems associated with such a setup? User:Nichalp/sg 18:49, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
Interurban
Thanks for the mediation, looks like a good call.
Problem user request
Hi Sean, I noticed you are active now...could I please ask you to consider instituting a block for 48 hours on User:Elf-Masher? He has been warned against engaging in personal attacks, to which his response was [1] I'd do it myself, but this last bit of incivility is directed to me personally, so I'd prefer if another admin made the call. It's a bit longer than a normal first time block, but E-M is almost certainly a sock of a known serial problem user. Thanks for your assistance...Cheers, Fawcett5 12:27, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
Sean, thanks for looking into it. You're right that he has probably now moved on to another alias, as it fits his pattern. Anyway, it is on WP:AN/I — User:Elf-Masher is a sock of User:LaLa and User:WritersCramp, look for the entries on those socks. He has now taken to taunting the people trying to track down his multiple aliases [2]. The name Elf-Masher itself was obviously created to harrass User:Elf, as shown by his repeated re-insertion of gratuitous "Do you have any Elves I can mash?" comments.Fawcett5 17:45, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Subversion of Tfd process for {{Infobox_Biography}}
Sean, it may interest you to know that there seems to be an undercurrent at work regarding the above-referenced issue which is manifesting itself in two ways: 1) infoboxes are being systematically removed from articles, including yours on Franklin B. Gowen, and 2) I've reverted changes to the template that include data that is not germaine or even appropriate to a biography (penis/breast size, for example). I've placed additional comments on this subject on the Tfd page. Makes me wonder why we even go through the motions of commenting and voting on something like this...
