This was one of the anthems of the Republic of China. In 1921, the National Anthem Research Committee set up by Tuan Chi-jui revealed a new anthem. The lyrics, from the classical Chinese work dating from the 23rd or 22nd century BC, "The Song to the Auspicious Cloud" from Shang Shu, were written by Zhang Taiyan, and the music was by a Beijing professor Xizo Youmei.
