The 1922 Rose Bowl was a college football bowl game played on January 2, 1922, between Washington and Jefferson College and the University of California, Berkeley. It has several important distinctions, including being the only scoreless Rose Bowl game, the only tie in Rose Bowl history, the first African-American quarterback to play in the Rose Bowl ( Dr. Charlie West from Washington and Jefferson College), and the smallest school (Washington and Jefferson College had only 450 students at the time) to every play in a Rose Bowl.
