West Exe Technology College is one of the five secondary schools in Exeter, Devon, England. West Exe was previously known as St Thomas High. The catchment area for the school is the St Thomas area, Alphington, and some parts of Exwick. A new school building was opened in 2006.

The head-teacher is Mr Steve Maddern; assistant head-teachers are Mrs Julia Green, Mrs Beverly Childs, Mr Rick Jolly, and Mr Andrew Till.

Events in 2008

Events included whole school learning days, where students participate in activities such as team-building, problem solving, mind developing and fun educational activities. Other events included the concert on the 20th May which featured the West Exe Jazz Band, a string quartet and a Samba band. The concert raised over £500 for Malawi. "Bike It" week included encouraging more pupils to ride their bike to school, bike safety lessons and bike agility courses.

Malawi

Students at West Exe have been trying to raise £10,000 to help build a school in Malawi, with help from the David James Foundation. Fundraising included donation days, Malawi week, bike donation, gala concert and the new West Exe single, "Another Brick in the School". On the 11th June 2008, the money raised for Malawi reached £10,036. The final funds for the 07-08 term got to £15,000.

Bugsy Malone

The school did a production of Bugsy Malone, starring Bert Maddrell, (as Bugsy Malone) Emily Angus, (as Blousey) Josh Pratt, (as Knuckles) Dom Boult, (as Fat Sam) James Goodwin, (as Leroy) Merrily Kirton, (as Paperboy) And Briony Parry (as Tallulah). Mrs Robertson and Mr Coles were the director and producer, Mr Lias did the sound, Mr Welch did the lights, Mr Carter conducted the band, Mrs Rainbird made costumes for certain parts and helped backstage on 2 of the nights, Alex Lidster and Sian Jones helped on many of the rehearsels and Mr Courtice had a cameo appearance as a heavyweight boxer. This was the only production to date the school have done that sold out each night. The Mayor and Mayoress saw the production on the 23rd of October.
