McDowell High School is a public high school located in Millcreek Township, Pennsylvania a suburb of Erie. It is the single high school in the Millcreek Township School District. The current principal is Timothy Rankin. The school's mascot is the Trojan. Its biggest rival is Cathedral Prep.
Academic teams
McDowell High School is home to more than one large academic activity. This includes a nationally recognized Speech & Debate team. McDowell had a national champion at the 2006 National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Tournament in Chicago, IL. Orator Samantha Moore was the first national champion from the Erie Diocese since 1982. McDowell also is home to a winningUSAD/ASL Team, currently ranked second in the state.
Enrollment
There are approximately 2,500 students attending McDowell High School. McDowell is split into two buildings. One building (McDowell Intermediate) contains freshmen and sophomores (grades 9-10). The other building contains juniors and seniors (grades 11-12). Some students "travel" for classes in either building.
