Hello there. I don't know if you're familiar with the Twilight book series, but if not, I'll try to sum up: they're very popular, and the first novel has been adapted for the screen. I recently started working on its page, and as its release date (Dec 12) draws nearer, I think that the level of vandalism will begin to increase. I know semi-protection can't be applied in anticipation of vandalism, but I just thought I'd give a heads-up to an admin so that when the vandalism gets frequent, as I think it will, such an action can be executed swiftly. Thanks, Cliff smith talk 20:38, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
October 2008: RfA
Hey, Bibliomaniac. I'd like to be an admin, but I wonder if Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship is the way to go. If so, I'll read up on it and study it. Also, I'd like to ask you for a favour; is my history going to effect my nomination? Lastly, where can I find someone who would nominate me? Thanks for all your help, A talk 22:00, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks an awful lot; I'll remember additions to edit summaries and remain neutral and impartial. Thanks for the tip, a lot! A talk 21:03, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Hey
Hey man, what's going on. I'm doing pretty good now, really getting back into editing a lot. I went through some rough stuff during that hiatus...man, it lasted like a year all told. I felt really bad about that, but I just got hammered with crap. But I've really found a passion for Wikipedia again, albeit in an entirely different section from where I used to work. I'm really into pro wrestling now, and there's so much on the project to do. It's a lot of fun to work on and it's definitely a big subject. Gives me something to do when I'm not watching it :) I'm flexing those admin muscles lately, too; doing a lot of RC and NP patrolling. I just wish I hadn't had to spend a year dealing with all sorts of mess to get into this groove. All's well that ends well, though. How's things on your end? Cheers, DoomsDay 21:55, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nice job. You deserve it, getting all those RFA's going. By now you're probably responsible for half the admins on this project :). If you're ever looking for a good place to gnome about, WP:PW could sure use the help ;). Cheers, DoomsDay 22:02, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Biblio coached me, so add me to that half. Useight (talk) 22:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- That would be a great stretch. If any thing, half of the admins now would be Wizardman admins. bibliomaniac15 22:59, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Mentor Help
Hey, Bibliomaniac. I saw your name on the mentors' list, and I was wondering if you could help to check out my first GAN review. I looked over the article "Palau at the 2008 Summer Olympics," and I only found minor problems (all of which were quite quickly addressed by Basement12, the article's chief editor), so I think it's a go for "Pass." However, again, I'd like to see how meticulous I actually was from a fresh pair of eyes.
What do you think?

A request
Bibliomaniac15, I wanted to let you know about a situation that's arisen with Lenticel, whom you conominated for adminship. (I'm posting this same message to Wizardman, the other nominator.) If you have a moment, would you take a look at Talk:Chocolate Hills, and then at the note I left on Lenticel's talk page?
Lenticel hasn't responded in any way to my note, though he's edited since I left it. I prefer to try to resolve issues on Wikipedia through direct interaction with acquaintances, where possible, since that seems more personal and more likely to be friendly (and successful). If you agree with me that Lenticel should consider saying something conciliatory to Malleus, would you post something to that effect on Lenticel's talk page? I've never interacted with him, and he may consider me a busybody; he knows you and might pay more heed to a note from you.
If you don't think any response from Lenticel is warranted, that's fine, though I'd be interested to get your take on it. Malleus hasn't retired, but he's stated he'll be pulling back from volunteer work as a result of this incident (which he indicated was just the last straw, rather than the entire reason for his disillusionment). Malleus is a top-flight editor, and I'd like to give him hope that problems can be successfully resolved in a friendly way here on Wikipedia.

Renaming of User:Carlos5053 to User: Christina Mendez
Back on October 5, you marked as "Done" a request by User:Carlos5053 to be renamed User: Christina Mendez. However, the latter still does not seem to be an account (see [1]). The user has moved her user and talk pages to the latter name, but I've had to move them back because it doesn't actually exist. What else would need to be done for this move to go through? ... discospinster talk 02:38, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Rename
I tried this SUL rename Iona → Jonah.ru, and the usurp works but the Iona → Jonah.ru part doesn't. What do you make of it? I'm also not sure what to do with the top most SUL request--borderline to me. — Rlevse • Talk • 03:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Template:WelcomeShout
Something is amiss with this template. Where it says "leave me a message on my talk page," and you are supposed to be connected to the talk page of the person who left the welcome message, you are instead connected to this. My attempt to fix it did not work. Any ideas? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 03:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

One More Time
Hello again, Bibliomaniac.
I think I've almost got the hang of this GA Reviewer thing. May I request your position on one more good article nomination? --Starstriker7(Dime algoor see my works) 04:30, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Oxford Newspaper Clipping1934.pdf
Dear B15,
Please could you reinsate the above file that you summarily deleted.
Its contents are refered to in the page Alfred Brotherston Emden where it refers to the date of the completion of the quad - namely in the sentence - "Emden oversaw the restoration of the old buildings of the Hall and the completion of the quad in 1934 with buildings on its southside.[4]", with reference ...

Hi B15. In March our University radio page was deleted. The reasons were to do with being unimportant and insignificant. I fail to understand this for an establishment in existance since 1976. Also, for the following reasons. We have many more members (as seen here http://www.studentradio.org.uk/stations/) than some of those stations whose Wiki pages still exist. Also, we have great value to our many alumni, including ex-DJ Thom Yorke. Our name Xpression FM appears in many other existing articles. Also, our campus newspaper (same target audience) does have a page (see where Xpression FM redirects). Is there chance of re-instating this article. What was the subjective reasoning for its deletion, when some of our less established counterparts had pages retained, and when importance is indicated in existing articles.
If the article needs to meet criteria, please can i have access to it in order to bring it up to standard. Thank you for your time

Request for advice
I am canvassing a few bureaucrats about an issue. My personal ID now appears on a certain "watch" site. I have been outed, to put it bluntly. I'm actually not sure why I am considered a "leader" of "the hive." Should I go ahead and post my real name on my user page? My real concern is for family members' privacy. Wikipedia announces launch of new Valued pictures project
The project goes live for nominations on 10 November, 2008 at 0:00 UTC
This Wikipedia Valued pictures project sets out to identify and encourage users' efforts in providing valuable images of high encyclopedic value, and to build up a resource for editors from other Wikimedia projects seeking such educational images for use online. The project also provides recognition to contributors who have made an effort to contribute enyclopedic images of difficult subjects which are very hard or nigh on impossible to obtain. The project will run alongside the existing Wikipedia Featured pictures and Picture peer review projects.
Please visit Valued picture candidates to nominate an image, or to help review the nominations. Anyone with an account on Wikipedia is welcome to nominate images, and also to take part in the open review process.
The Wikipedia valued picture project has opened for nominations. Please feel free to nominate an image at WP:VPC today! |

Thank you for the barnstar. I look at help pages occasionally, but it seems that others do a great job of answering questions, and have access to handy cut and paste answers, so I'm not sure if I shouldn't leave it to them to provide the answers. Other "regulars" on those pages have more expertise, too. In this case it was an oddball question, so I looked into it. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 01:53, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: Xpression FM
Have made slight amendments to Xpression FM, in the style of sister station 1449AM URB. Is this acceptable? It appears to adhere to notability standard, though some deletion from moderators occured during creation. Why might this be?

SUL : Footmark > Trace
On this page you replied to my account usurpation request : Not done : You only have 25 edits, while the user "Trace" on the French Wikipedia has 610. Therefore, the fr.wiki user has a better claim to this username than you do.
The thing is I am the Trace user on the french wiki. I prove it by adding a line about this on my talk page.
I emailed the current user, placed a request on its talk page.
I now hope to be allowed to usurp this account.
Thank you.
