Scott Ramsoomair (Born March 24, 1981) is the author of the popular webcomic VG Cats. He has also worked as the illustrator of the webcomic Digital Purgatory. He lives in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Ramsoomair is also the author of Adventure Log, an official Final Fantasy XI webcomic with Square Enix, and a Pokemon-based webcomic named SUPER EFFECTIVE.

Cats

Ramsoomair named the protagonists of his popular webcomic VG Cats after two cats he owns, Leo and Aeris; he describes the association as "in name only."[1] He owns other cats, one of which is called Ronin. Ramsoomair has asserted that Ronin would not appear in the comics [2][3]. On July 10, 2007 he acquired a new kitten named Bugsy, which he nicknames "Hell with Claws." [4][5] Scott also recently got a Ferret called Yuki. [6]

Opinions regarding violence in video games

In an interview by CBS News, Ramsoomair stated that "They [Conservative groups, watchdog groups] condemn violent games and media even though they do not play or watch such material." Ramsoomair describes BMX XXX as "a horrible game, but not for its content. It was just a very bad game. But people hear nudity and everyone is up in arms." [7] Ramsoomair created a series of VG Cats comic strips titled "Jack Thompson's A Christmas Carol." The series, a parody of A Christmas Carol, casts Jack Thompson in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, likening him to the Charles Dickens character. [8]
